Trying to find a home for Wired, anyone tried it on Tycho. I'm thinking PTL, Wired, Autothrusters, and Prockets for 35 points. Anyone got any thoughts? Galringly obvious problems I've missed? ![]()
Wired Tycho
A-wings with access to double EPTs certainly seem to be a good spot for wired. Gotta try out the card ASAP!
I've done it -- it's pretty handy. It's a mini TL, that works on defense, so you can focus actions on movement.
Edited by Hawkstrikenot a massive fan of wired but, for what it is (1 point!), it's fairly handy
I've seen it used to fairly decent effect on TLT Jan Ors (flown with Wedge and V.I Jake to provide the means to stress her before she shoots)
I was excited for it on Tycho, but honestly the effect is not that pronounced. In fact, the less shots you're taking the less effect it gets to play on the game (since spending the focus is strictly superior). This doesn't seem so bad because, again, 1 point, but there are some other EPTs out there that imo are more impactful and therefore demanding of the A-wing's 2nd slot; especially crackshot and juke.
Imo, their are more generally useful options that could be seated in the same spot as wired when talking about A-wings specifically. Wired gains more value the more times you're being shot (and the fewer shots you have tokens to modify), whereas Crackshot or Juke can simply win you the game by slaying something you normally couldn't touch with an A-wing (fat han comes to mind...)
So far 4 an oh with that Tycho Build. My list is called AAAA!
I tried it combined with PTL in a 2A+E list and it worked better than i expected.
Personally I think that wired's best home is on Horton with a TLT and R2-D6. Stress him on the first combat turn (easy with a Y-Wing dial) and never worry about actions ever again.
Been seeing some greenies with wired and elusiveness on the table, not a terrible 20pts honestly.
I like Wired Tycho because it's extra insurance that complements Autothrusters nicely, but honestly I'm more excited for Wired on TLT Jan alongside Miranda (4-5 dice Primary Turret on that K-Wing; now that's a killshot). Still working out the specifics and accompaniment there.
Wired pairs pretty well with both Tycho and Jake. It basically comes down to VI versus Wired, and that ultimately depends on what you're facing. Against TLT spam, Wired will probably help you more than VI. But against the likes of Soontir Fel, you'll probably want VI instead.
Edited by PhantomFOI was thinking I could do without VI as I was going to run him alongside Han. This version of Tycho, as opposed to the Psycho build, lets me fully deck out a Falcon with all the trimmings without comprimising. it in anyway.
I really wanted wired to work on Poe, so I put the stress droid on him, thrusters, and then put him with a focus passing buddy of choice (Esege Tuketu, Garven Dreis w/ EPT droid and VI, or Kyle Katarn). In theory, it seems great, but needing both ships on board for the synergy to be in place is always a little rough.
What I did note from this though is Wired has GREAT synergy with autothrusters, and for that reason I think this will have a comfy home with A-wings as is being discussed here.
if it's really great with thrusters, then I'm really looking forward to wired Red Squadron Veteran w/R3-a2
Edited by ficklegreendiceI tried it out today on an aggressor (mainly because his robotic brother had Lone Wolf and it was the closest thing I could find to that unique talent). It wasn't bad actually. He had a couple of stress tokens (thanks to debris) for a couple turns and it really helped him. Not sure if it will always be that beneficial, but it was a happy accident that kept him alive all game. :-)
Edited by Darth LandyI love Wired on Green A-wings. For 23 points, it can be a really annoying ship.
Tycho is great for Wired.
Non-As have a harder time of it, but can take it on with Fleet Officer, Experimental Interface, or R3-A2. I
think that's it at the moment for repeatable stressors that aren't Elite Talents...
I played against it, it's a nice combo! Rather annoying to play against

That may be best fit for Wired I've heard, plus I'm a Horton fan. Can't believe I've never thought of that.

id agree but isn't it a fact that jan needs that VI to boost away from sootier, jake, vader etc?

Eh, not always. Depends on the list! Obviously being able to Boost/BR into Jan's Range 1 bubble would be easy enough for most of the PS9 pilots but at the moment I'm looking at kitting out Jan with TLT, Wired, Nien Nunb, and an Engine Upgrade. She can Boost every turn and cover some decent ground for a HWK, and with the TLT she isn't all that concerned about her heading, especially if Miranda can use her own TLT to overlap a lot of Jan's coverage (and since Miranda wants Jan's pilot ability, they'll be at least within Range 3 of each other).
With Miranda + TLT + R2-D2 crew, I've got enough room for two Bandits and a 1-point initiative bid. Not sure if it's the strongest way to go but I feel the pair of Bandit Zs offer more against TLT carriers than a single FCS Blue Squadron B-Wing or a Green Squadron A-Wing, and the only other PS8+ pilot I can fit in there is Airen Cracken who is still stuck in a Headhunter (although giving Miranda another action plus her 4-dice primary would be pretty nice). It's just hard to justify 20+ points on a Z-95 that isn't N'dru, and even then...
its also fairly decent on Jan Ors
