ISD with 2 of the same card?

By KAGE13, in Star Wars: Armada

Anyone notice in the ISD preview there are 2 of the same upgrade card there?

And it wasn't one of the cards previewed.

My guess is its an offensive retrofit since the ISD I can have 2. But it would have to have some wording saying you are allowed to have 2 of the same card.

Any thoughts?

Yup. The MC80 has that as well

The rules are very clear that a ship can have two cards of the same upgrade type (e.g. two Offensive Retrofits), provided you have the slots, but not two cards with the same name (e.g. two Expanded Hangars).

And well they should. All of these expansions should come with multiple non-unique Upgrades.

I think the expensive ones should.

That's my point. it shows 2 cards with the same name.

I can't see them having 2 of the same cards and a ship not being able to use both.

I don't see 2 of the same card on the mc80. I'm not talking the same type. I'm talking the exact same card.

Oh, you mean the Tactical something-or-other? Yeah, good point. It's entirely possible that the card has a clause specifying you can equip multiples of it - but from what little we can see of the illustration I'd have thought it was a Weapons Team rather than an Offensive Retrofit anyway. Maybe FFG are just being nice and not forcing us to buy three ISDs just for that one card (many other upgrades are common to other wave 2 ships I believe).

A ship cannot have more than one upgrade card with the “Modification” trait. Nothing to say it can't duplicate none unique, non-modification upgrades

Thanks for the clarification. Hadn't looked at FAQ for a while

With the expense of the ISD and MC80 expansions, it would be nice to get a couple copies of good upgrades even if they can't be used on the same ship at the same time

Unless it's like the x-wing Raider, you get 1 T.I.E. Advanced, but 4 TIE/x1 cards.
