I almost ran out of likes for this thread. And that makes me mad.
Unsportsmanship and sore losers
I hate it when people quit because they had a bad start or don't feel like they can keep up anymore. Maybe if it was in a league for score I wouldn't care as much but I wanna see it through to the end game.
I feel like them quitting early prevents me from getting valuable late game experience (and I can easily make m own mistakes causing me to be the one trailing behind)
This hasn't happened in xwing though. I'm usually the one loosing. But I don't give up.
There has been times where I felt obligated to play another game even after I'm done and ready to go home. That usually sucks. But I guess I'm getting my money's worth.
In an infinitesimal, stupid way, X-Wing helped make me a slightly better person. In that way, it's the exact opposite of Small World.

I've been lucky and not had anyone be sore with me. But I've had people when I've gotten to the lower tables at a tourney griping about other games and mistakes they made, and I've empathized and shared my own (as we're both low scorers lol)
I will occasionally vocalize my frustration at the dice, but in a more jokey way. Blaming myself for bad rolling. I'll also congratulate people on good rolls too. If you roll 4 reds against me and get all hits and crits, you are getting a vocal pat on the back.

Munchkin says hello. I've started yelling and my girlfriend has run off crying in the past. Naturally, it doesn't come out of the closet often...
I don't think unsportsmanship is a word There's unsportsmanlike and unsporting maybe? No offense to any non-native speakers. Just throwing it out there.
But I really shouldn't comment at all since many words used here are slang or made up.
Edited by Samwise GamgeeThis one guy was using an older FAQ and when I called him on it, he went into a fit yelling, "It's not my fault! I trusted them! It's not my fault!"
[That's a Lando quote and this post is a jest, in case that wasn't apparent.]
This one time, this heaps strong guy wanted to win so badly, he kept changing dice outcomes, and when I would protest he would simply say "I am altering the dice, pray I do not alter them any further". He was too tough looking to do anything about it though.
I think this is just asking for people to air their dirty laundry out in view of everyone. I'm going to suggest that we shouldn't really promote that sort of idea here. This is akin to 'what's your biggest complaint with FFG' type posts, or 'which is the worst type of gamer' type post. Those posts, while potentially amusing or informative, are also similar to gossip, slander, and potentially opens this forum up to potentially rude or hurtful comments directed at players who might frequent this forum.
I say this while having had negative playing experiences. I don't think it's appropriate for me, or anyone, to air them out.

Hi Jacob
I can certainly understand your worry, but this thread is not meant to be a negative one - rather, when I sent the question out to our fellow X-Wing players, I meant it to be more like a "share a moment of your playing experience where something didn't go so well for someone and they were not happy about it" compilation.
I already got a few good laughs from some of the comments here, and as I see it, many have also had a good time. Nevertheless, if anyone has a negative experience (I guess you could call it an NFE) from reading this - please accept my apologies! No NFEs meant at all, quite the opposite ![]()
So, what is the most unsportsmanship spell you have ever witnessed while playing x-wing? Any funny/weird happenings you care to share?
How about you? OP should share also.
I have had a starting player once complain the whole match on his first tournament (and I literally mean the whole 75 minutes) that people who come to tournaments with an initiative bid should not be allowed to compete (my list had 99 points against his 100). His complaints were quite varied - he even did some side calculations while we were playing on how little you actually lost by giving up one point and getting a bid compared to the benefit of having the ability to choose when to take and when to give initiative away.
At the end, I was so fed up by his moaning that I asked him, rather roughly, why the hell he did not make a squad with 99, 98 or even less points, then. He stared at me for something like 10 seconds, and when I was almost sure he would get physical (I'm not very big), he just said "Hm, I never thought about that.". I laughed out loud, a bit out of relief but mostly because of the situation itself.
This thread isn't going to end well.
Faith, brother!
I had a hit and a crit rolled against Fel, Focussed, at Range 3 and with a Stealth Device. I rolled 5 green blanks and the crit was a Direct Hit and Fel popped. I nearly pulled a Francis.

I don't think many English majors frequent this board. I'm afraid the rules of grammar are lost to most anyway. And when this is pointed out one is then labeled a Grammar Nazi. Or maybe a Grammar Stormtrooper.

My first encounter was when Diablo three launched and you had error 37 and couldn't play.
Last week my wife was so mad that I tabled her new scum list that she made me get my own beer out of the fridge even though she was standing in the kitchen.
I mentioned it the TO (Our Cat) and he just licked himself.
Does your cat TO anywhere else? I like his rulings
I generally have good experience playing minature/board and card games since it's much harder to be an ******* face to face rather than online.
Worst thing I really remember is one guy picking up a dial to check and switch it with his thumb to another manouver and then refused to accept it when I called him on it and I was really shocked, it did not help him and I didn't feel like arguing so I let it slide but that's like the one time out of like 14+ tournaments ![]()
Otherwise some people are a bit too whiny about dice rolls. Sure if I roll 3 hits and 1 crit without modifiers that's pretty crazy but if I get it with focus&target lock then I did set myself up to roll good so it's not really "luck".
One time I saw a guy lose and he pulled his opponent's arms out of their sockets.
