T-70 Ship and Squadron Builds

By xApolinar, in X-Wing

Love the look and vibe of the T-70 and I'm really hoping to fit one or two into my 100 point squad. While I've read here and there that it may not be the most efficient jouster statistically, I'm still hoping there is a place for it in competitive play!

Some Initials ideas:

- Poe: PTL + BB-8 + Autothrusters + Adv. Proton Torps [still go back and forth about giving Poe Weapons Guidance. One one hand, w/ 3 actions why have if it you bring a target lock? On the other, what if I want to boost or can't get off the 3 actions for a turn or two.... Decisions....]

- Blue Ace: R7-T1 + Autothrusters

having played the T70 on multiple occasions... I dont like what you get for the point value. too many points on not enough ship for a sub-par ship

I like dash and poe

Adv Torp WAY too many points. Drop it. PTL, works great with this setup. Predator or Lonewolf with R5-P9 also work extremely well.

Blue Squadron Rookie with R2 Astromech and Integrated Astromech could be a solid 25-point buy. Effectively seven health, loaded with greens, plus Boost.

And Talon Roll... don't forget about that awesome maneuver!

Only thing I'm sad is that there is not 2 copy of Integrated Astromech in the T-70 expension pack. I'll have to borrow 1 or 2 if I want to try 4 T-70 with R2 and IA.

Poe w/bb8 + ptl + thrusters

Red vet with predator + thrusters

Red vet with wired + r3-a2 (thrusters)

Dash of poe (95/100)

====================

T/70 X-wing: Poe Dameron (31 + 9)

+ Push the Limit (3)

+ R2-D2 (4)

+ Autothrusters (2)

YT-2400: Dash Rendar (36 + 19)

+ Push the Limit (3)

+ "Mangler" Cannon (4)

+ Kyle Katarn (3)

+ Outrider (5)

+ Engine Upgrade (4)

Been debating about r2d2 and bb though.

Stop putting PTL and bb-8 on Poe. You either end up not being able to barrel roll, or you don't use PTL to keep BB-8 open for the next turn, which makes both cards worth less

Poe wants VI, R5-P9, autothrusters, and a tech upgrade that doesn't suck.

stop putting R5-P9 on Poe

Poe gets blocked and ravaged with incredible ease

seriously, Poe is a versatile little bugger and can be kited out for your playstyle

also, do people still not understand that you can PTL off of the free roll and then green maneuver to be stress free? BB-8 can keep spinning indefinitely and put even Anakin to shame

Except Darth Vader + Mauler mithel gives you the most barrel rolls of all time!

Maybe someone should do that as a house rule for a death star game... If mauler collides with Vader, Vader has to perform 7 barrel roll actions or something to show him getting spun out of the trench.

autothrusters yes, leave the torp slot empty, it is still useless.

and in the unlikely event that they magically become usable (guidance thingy from wave 8?) they will see play on bb-8 PTL wedge before any T-70 :P

I've been seeing some success with a red squadron Veteran with predator and auto thrusters flanking for 50 points of generic Y and B wing with an ion toting Z-95 to fill.

Poe works great with either BB-8/PtL or R5-P9/EPT of choice. Both are valid choice and depends on what you pair him with and the role you want him to fill. The important thing is that it works for you.

As for the Torp slot, I had some success with it, but I needed a wingman that could hand me an action to have a focus and a TL in the same turn. For 3 points, a Plasma Torpedo could definetly be a good opener vs a high shield target and for 2 points, a flechette torpedoes could give you the control needed to keep a high agility ship in check. And you could always take Weapon Guidance to help you land it (change the first focus with Poe ability then use the focus tio turn one blank into a hit, odds are actually pretty good for you).

Eventually everyone will actually read th rules and figure out how PTL BB works, but until then I guess noobs will accuse you of cheating when you clear your own stress every round and get 3 actions. Best droid ever, sorry R2-D2! I predict at least 2 other threads this weekend about how BB-8 doesn't work with ptl...

I like r2 for survivability but i also like the axtion economy with ptl and bb had moderate seccess with both droids though. I must note i am a casual player and dont play agenst many meta lists

You have enough points to drop Mangler and add HLC. If you're worried about the donut hole, don't! Poe can cover your donut hold just fine; I've used it effectively quite a few times already.

never ever drop to mangler on Dash

the loss of the doughnut hole is nothing next to how such you're screwing Dash over against fat PWTs and Aggressors and small base, high agility ships. You need that HLC to win dice-offs

learning how to deal with the doughnut hole (hint: Dash's ability) is part of the complexity of playing Dash

Ive flrwon dash with hlc and mangler it seems to me the mangler serves me better. The dice on the hlc hate me lol

Do you also have the four Y-Wing expansion packs for the R2 Astromechs?

I gave the quad T-70 list a spin on Vassal last night. I lost lost, but feel that the overall list is competative. My opponent finished with one hull on each of his remaining ships, so I consider that a winnable game in different circumstances.

I may swap out one of the T-70s for a BTL Gold with Ion and R3A2, and/or a B-Wing with either Advanced Sensors or E2/Tactician to give myself a little more tactical versatility and keep the tabletop cost down, but the ship build itself is definitely worth it.

Poe Dameron — T-70 X-Wing 31

Predator 3

R5-P9 3

Autothrusters 2

Ship Total: 39

This is what has been working for me on Poe. You can also go with R2-D2 and PTL for one point more. It's a tiny bit better but if you want R2 on another ship this works wonders!

autothrusters yes, leave the torp slot empty, it is still useless.

Apparently someone has never had the pleasure of putting that second stress token on Soontir with a well placed flechette shot.

but R3-a2 takes up the astromech slot

Fixed that for you ;)
