Stats for stygium crystal-powered cloaking device?

By Kymrel, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hey guys

One of the antagonists I am planning to inflict upon my players in the future will be a Hand of the Emperor who will be flying in a modified version of the Scimitar Sith Infiltrator . The ship will be equipped with conventional weapons so I won't have to worry about stats for the solar ionization cannons.

I do need to worry about stats for the stygium crystal-powered cloaking device, which the Hand just might need to sneak up on people or get out of trouble.

Does anyone have any bright ideas for how this very rare cloaking device would work in game terms?

Page 60 on stay on target has a sidebar for the stygium crystal cloaking device. Short version is a 4P difficulty to detect, if detected counts as Sil 0 for targeting, while active you have no coms, sensors, weapons, etc.

Fantastic! I didn't remember that sidebar. Thanks a lot mate!

Interesting that the description does not mention shields at all. RAW the ship can keep deflector shields active while using the cloak.

In my mind it's because the cloaking device is tied into the shield system.

So he's getting a Scimitar, eh?

" There exists no other ship like it. " Darth Sidious when granting the Scimitar to Darth Maul [

Hehehe, I guess it's not inconcievable for a Sith Lord to lie :P

(I think the ship you're looking for is the Star Courier , which is the ship the Scimitar was based on)

Nope, the Star Courier is what will show up on the PCs sensors. The Sith Infiltrator is what he'll be flying. Trust me, I've changed the canon a lot in my game, a duplicate of one ship is the least of it.

Ah, well if Canon is out the window, knock yourself out.

Well, even if it wasn't Palpa's statement could still be true. Even if it was the only one at the time he gave it to Maul it is not that inconceivable that they made another in the 25 odd years since!

In X-Wing Miniatures the TIE Phantom shielding works under cloak. I think the same would apply in the RPG.

Is the shield thing just an artifact form the EU though? I mean the TIE Phantom and the Stealth ship from CW both had the same cloak effect, so I assume they are supposed to have the same cloaking system, and the Stealth Ship violated a couple other previously establish EU cloaking device limitations (sensors).

Maybe Star Wars Cloaks aren't as limited as we thought. Shields, Sensors, and Fighter sized craft... all these have been stated as being an issue for cloaking, and all these have been overridden by now...

One day ..... I'm adding cloaked Defiants to Star Wars ..... just because.

In the old TIE FIGHTER game, there was no problem with shield, but with hyperdrives. They behaved quite explosive together

I would honestly just treat it as they did in Star Trek, coms and sensors work fine while cloaked but shields and weapons are down while cloaked. I think it's a fair and balanced approach.

Cloaks would be absolutely useless if navigational deflectors, engines and sensors didn't work while they were in operation. Space is really, really big, yes. However ships are also flying really, really fast and micrometeorites could tear stuff up if those three systems didn't work.

The micrometeorites are mentioed even in one of the EotE source books, but if they are realy a threat then all the TIEs would explode, and I just would say they are mostly used in solar systems, where probably 99% of all micrometeorites are.

But still I agree that you can be cloaked and shielded at the same time. As the book says

BTW could I get the scimitar stats for star wars for this ship please.
