Funny things you hear after a game.

By Hobojebus, in X-Wing

The one I hear quite often is "rebels have no counter to that" which always tickles me because rebels have so many ways to counter everything.

This week I took vessery and three basic tie advanced with AC, I faced a yv666 and two y-wings set up as warthogs.

By turn three the yv666 was dust and I'd lost a few shields, by turn six I'd wiped out his fleet 100-0.

First comment made was AC are too good and there's no good counter advanced using them.

So what do your mates say when taken by surprise?

You and your **** cheating phantoms. (/soontir fel / Darth vader x1).

"I cant believe i lost to 4 space cows. WHO EVEN OWNS THAT MANY"

Ugh, Corran(before he was cool).

No good counter to AC? Try flyinng something with more than 1 defense die.

Don't really get that many laments after games, ppl around here mostly discuss strategy and try to figure out what went wrong. :)

To be fair that's a common one, our end of game is usually a what went wrong analysis.

My friends really hate my phantoms and turretted Y's though, to the point that I generally stopped playing them.

"I really shouldn't have gon all in on Fel first...." -Me

Normally I just get a "huh, never thought of that before"

Most recent one was giving Echo Push the Limit with Stygium. Decloak for the Evade & PTL into a focus, then do a green maneuver to clear it, and either recloak if I don't think I'll have a shot--stay put if I like my spot--or barrel roll to try to arc dodge.

I'd give that Echo a Recon Specialist too, that way I always have my focus for defense. It essentially gave her 4 actions a turn without stress.

EDIT: This is then shortly followed by what has been said already. Discussing strategy afterwards is always a good idea.

i need to do this in my upcoming 2 phantom list... because YOU GUESSED IT.... I HAD NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT BEFORE....

not really after a game per say, but I did get to ruthlessly make fun of my opponent who kept confusing Redline for a bomber :P

"F'ing red/green dice."

Because no matter what, it's always the fault of the dice if you get nailed with something you didn't expect.

"Is that legal?"

Because they didn't think of it first.

Naturally, I heard that after playing this guy's Imp squad: "Rebels are simply on top right now because they can regen shields and do everything else the other factions can do on top of that." That was his argument.

All 3 opponents I played the other day hadn't heard of the BB-8/PTL combo yet, and thought I was cheating even after the TO assured them all "guys it's legit... it's all over the forums."

I also corrected one guy on his repeated attempts to misuse Squad Leader (outside of R2; using on same-skill ships, etc.) and when he finally just took a TL action, he glared at me and hissed "Is THAT legal?"

hey, I don't expect full health Whisper to get one-shot at range 3 by a 3-die primary, but it still happens and it's definitely not my fault <_<

what about your Corran Horn getting 1 shot by a PS3 Colzet, or Maarek with adv. Homing missiles. because my friend no longer runs horn because of me.

"The starvipers carried me that round"

Me, after an impressive 3 win run at regionals with iggy b and 2 black sun enforcers

While this wasn't quite after a game, recently while playing in a tournament a guy whiffed his attack roll (range 2 against an interceptor with an evade token) and angrily said "you know that the dice saved you, right?" Of course, this was a few turns after I rolled over 12 blanks (I think I rolled 1 evade out of 13 dice) with a cloaked phantom and lost it. Thankfully I came back and defeated him, because I don't really like it when people say that they win because of their good skill but when they lose it's because of their bad (or my good) dice... unless of course I'm the one that's winning, then it was obviously because of my superior skill :D

But in response to the OP, I tend to make a lot of highly-synergistic builds and when my opponents describe the match to others they often say things like: "wait wait wait, he did what?"

"Watch my stuff, I gotta' pee."

"That was some bull****"

We play at my house and are always drinking.

"Goddamn Glitterstim." See sig.

"That was where I lost the game."

"F*** you and your F***ing Y-wing pieces of s***"

Said when I ran a 4 Y with Ion Turret before wave 6. He made a list that could "beat all lists ever made" admittedly it was great at the current meta... to bad for him no one used Y's and I noticed and exploited a weakness in his list.

"So my Wife and I are into swinging, would you be willing to sire my children so I can breed them to be super players like you"

Overheard at gencon 2 years ago.

"I cant believe I lost both Decimators by turn 2"

Said by me. We were running a co-op 300 point game, (150 points per person)

I ran twin Decimators that were kitted out...

"He couldn't hold it."

- Anyone who included Porkins in their list.

"Now the children will die!"

One of my regular opponents often say this. The rest of us often ask him why he has such a hatred against children but he's never truly answered...
