Was reading the investigator sheet of Minh, who is probably my wife's favorite investigator from the Innsmouth expansion (she's got a thing for allies). Noticed that in her story, her gentleman mentor is refered to as Mr. Tomas and later as Mr. Thompson (as in Mandy?). So I decided Mr T was more than appropriate; "I pity the fool who read the King in Yellow!!!"

got all the allies except the ones from Kingsport. Anyone having exceptional sucess with any combos? It was pointed out to me that Erica Carlyle seemed to be right up Minh's ally (get it?), or the Messenger to turn her into a combat monster. Naturally the ever-popular Professor Rice isn't a bad choice either. I always liked Malone, but recently I've started to have a thing for Zebulon Whately, man is he ever way-better-than-I-thought-he-was.

On a third note, how much difficulty do people have completing this one? Usuaully we do it no prob, but we had 2 failed attempts in a row in our recent games with her, and it's starting to look slightly grimmer.

As a side note, has anyone ever passed Jaqueline's personal story? 2 allies before the terror level reaches 3? Geez

Actually, I'd be willing to argue that if you have J.F. and one of those two allies, your team would be best off adjusting tactics to allow her to complete her mission as a top priority.

Your point is what? The most reliable way for her to obtain two allies is trading for them at Ma's Boarding house. Once she has a second one, she can discard it (very useful if the second one is Bain or Rice, because that way you can get their effect twice by trading for them yet again).

Oh, I see what you are saying. I don't mean Fine having one of the allies, I mean the ally deck having one of the allies (since you draw 11 allies randomly, if you're playing CotDP, DH, and KH there's a decent chance you won't have either of them in a game).

One investigator getting the necessary trophies for 2 allies then getting Ma's and spending 2 turns trading them in all before the terror level reaches 3 is a fairly daunting challenge.

You can get gate trophies, monster trophies, and like someone mentioned earlier, you might pick up a Dhol Chant. The most important thing is to keep the Terror Track low, which you would try to do anyway if you are playing with the KiY Herald.

I think what you would end up doing is send Jacqueline through 1-2 Gates and have her nail some monsters. Jacqueline has sanity to spare so I think it makes her a decent fighter and spellcaster. As long as you aren't unlucky with monster surges, having 1-2 investigators pick off a monster here and there will keep the Terror Track steady.

It'll happen late game, but its very doable. It's a challenge, but you are getting a doom token removed for passing. Remember you are playing Jacqueline. She "negates" Mythos cards! Give her some clue items like Old Journal or King in Yellow and you won't have too many obstacles.

Though Arkham being Arkham, you might get 3 nasty rumors in a row...

Terror tends to be unpredictable. Sometimes you get +1 Terror Mythos cards in a row (if Dagon is Herald, "good times"), other times monsters jump in the first vortex in 1-2 moves, sometimes nothing happens (rarer). I agree with Avi that Lola's seems pretty undoable (from reading all of them, not having tried it, since no KH, but then, 24 games with IH and no Zoey sighting yet either), you get a lucky break, Dhol Chants, Marie passes her PS, etc. Doom tokens are an almost guaranteed increaser, especially early on.

Unless you draw Kate with Arcane insight.

I usually calculate that there will be at least one uncontrollable terror boost. Still, being able to keep the terror track from rising twice shouldn't be *too* hard if you really make an effort to prevent it (and as it was said before, give J.F. a couple extra clue tokens and she can technically prevent an unexpected terror rising card).

nah, thats hubris, you can still lose, especially with Innsmouth. I saw a game in which use of Kate+AI had terror climbing fast and the DoR needed clearing out twice. They lost when a rift opened and started spewing out doom. It was a pretty funny game to watch.
