Shadow vault waterfall question

By New OL, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi Guys,

I was just wondering as the Overlord in the interlude Shadow Vault if I can throw a hero off the waterfall using either an Ettin's throw ability, Zachareth's dominion power or Dark Charm. It is something I was planning on doing but I can see it being debated by the heroes so I wanted some external input.

If there is an official ruling somewhere that would be handy, but the way I interpret it is, it is not an action so I can make them go off the waterfall but not swim down the stream.

Thanks.

The quest says "As an action, a figure in a space along the edge of the Stream closest to the Waterfall may hurl himself over the waterfall." None of those cards listed let you take a general action with the hero, they only let you move the heroes. I would say that you cannot force a hero to jump off the cliff with those cards.

Correct. You cannot force this.

Ah yes, you are right. Thank you for pointing that out, I should have noticed that. It is a pity, it seems like thematically that is something you should be able to do but balance has to trump theme I suppose.

Hi there.

Can characters shoot from the top of the waterfall to the clearing below?

In my last session, I (the overlord) had gathered all of my troops in the cavern to try to choke off the heroes. The question came up if Jain can shoot my monsters from ontop of the waterfall?

Thanks,

No. The top of the waterfall is separated from tile 1A by a black map edge. Map edges block movement, line of sight, and you cannot count spaces through them.

Note that you also cannot block the heroes by filling up all the spaces at the bottom of the waterfall. If a hero performs the jump action, he lands in the nearest available empty space at the bottom of the waterfall.
