Cards inspires by the X-Wing & TIE Fighter games.

By DarthEnderX, in X-Wing

Hey guys. I made up a whole bunch of cards recently meant to represent various aspects of the old X-Wing and TIE Fighter PC games that I don't think are properly represented in this game yet.

First up is a set of Elite upgrades meant to represent the ability pilots had to reroute power between laser recharge, shield recharge and engine output.

I know Miranda already has a similar ability, but I didn't want them to be limited to one pilot. Also, since they cost you your action and Elite slot and her ability doesn't, their effects are a bit more pronounced than hers.

Next up is a card meant to represent the Match Target Speed button. A handy little button that instantly set your speed to the speed of the ship you had targeted. Very useful when fast approaching a slower target to keep yourself from overshoot or ramming into them as you tried to stay on their tail.

My next card is the Wotan Weave . It's meant to represent a popular maneuver the game recommends you use whenever approaching enemy turrets. Allowing you to avoid fire while still remaining pointed at your target.

Finally, a repost of a card I made a while ago that lots of folks have brewed up their own version of. Meant to represent an ability added in X-Wing Alliance that let you fire your laser and ion weapons at the same time.

Well, that's all for now. Credit to most of the card art goes to the makers of the TIE Fighter anime short film .

Feel free to post any thoughts, criticisms. Or post ideas of your own for representing elements of those games in card form.

Edit: Ugh, typo in the topic title. That's embarrassing...

That Match Target Speed one is pretty cool!

Wotan Weave would be an interesting title for the T-65. A lot of shunting cards are interesting, and could be made to work. But they would probably have to deal with Corran.

Match Target Speed would be scary on ATC equipped Advanced. Vader + that + EU? Holy gods.

Actually, thinking about the Shunt to weapons cards: because they are actions you'd be better off taking PTL and simply TL + Focus instead. But if you made them mods, say I could increase my damage and still have ptl to take another action.

Also! Some form of the Linked fire card kinda _needs_ to come out for the Defender.

I'm about to start a co-op campaign using the rules found here . I am definitely going to add these as options for the players to have access to.

I think I'd limit the engine shunt ones to a free boost action, and the ones that shunt to weapons to add an attack die rather than give a second attack, but otherwise I like the flavor!

Agreed.

For the "to engines" ones you probably want to specify that you treat it as white. Otherwise R2-D2/BB-8 Could be problematic. =)

Mag Pulse weapons? How crazy would a torp that hands out a weapon disabled token be?

I like to imagine the A-Wing Test Pilot, having both Shields To Weapons and Weapons to Shields, getting in behind an enemy and burning through his shields to double tap the enemy to death, then breaking off to recover his shields.

They don't have any color at all. Just like when you use a Boost action(which is how I tried to word them).

I don't feel like one attack dice is enough for losing a shield or being ioned the next turn. Miranda's power does that, and it doesn't cost her an Action, or an Elite upgrade(not that she has one).

That's the one good thing about them all being separate cards though, is that some of them are more powerful than others. And thus, they can cost different amounts.

I like all of them, but I would consolidate all the Shunt cards into only one and increase it's cost for the versatility:

I know there are combos that make no sense, but for text brevity, I trust the player wouldn't decide to pick a weapons disabled token and increase its damage output the same round. :D

I feel like there's some edge case scenario where someone would take an Ion token for the next round for a free boost now. :P

Well, I knew I had seen that happening before. :D

DarthEnderX, I really like the energy cards.

Those should come with the ships, in a X-Wing 2.0

So, all of the with each ship ... well, the shield energy actions are available to shielded craft only, obviously.

So, for a more complex gameplay, each ship gets an 'Energy Action' in addition to the normal action.

I would make the shields to weapons an extra attack die, instead of a whole extra attack.

Possibly make them discardable EPT's instead of actions.

Discard this card and assign a weapons disabled token to recover 1 shield up to your shield value.

Otherwise you'd be setting yourself up for an indestructible Doomshuttle for instance.

We still need the ability to set our deflectors to double front. How do we do that?

For example:

Advanced Deflector Screens. Action: For this round, your agility against attackers in your firing arc is increased by one; your agility against attackers outside of your firing arc is decreased by one.

"You may spend a shield token to place a reinforce token on the front or back of your ship's base. The reinforce token applies to all attacks that face the reinforced side."

Maybe all 6 in one card is a bit much. Instead combine it to just 3 cards, each with dealing with the balance between two systems:
