Did blue dice just become fist fulls of awesome?

By Grimwaldo, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

So looking at the spoilers for the sets I see that for 5 points I can buy SW-7 Ion batteries. This makes any accuracy symbol that is not used on a defense token add 1 point of damage to the attack pool. Really? WOW this means that blue dice cannot miss when it comes to dealing out damage. They can do 1 point of damage 100% of the time! No wasted accuracy results! No hyper-accurate shots that do bupkiss for damage!

NO really the rules for accuracy results state that you CAN not must use them to negate defense tokens. With this one card this now makes blue dice the most effective in the game period, because they can be used for accuracy, great for targeting brace tokens, or just doing 1 point of damage. Its your choice!

You can put them on both the VSD type ,2 and on both types of ISD, or a raider type2, Home one ,or a CR90.

IMO this upgrade is bananas all for 5 points. An ISD can 4 points of damage guaranteed, 5 with a concentrate fire token, not including the other dice being thrown.

Waaaaayyyy more excited about this one upgrade than any other card coming out so far.

Please let me know if I am missing something otherwise I am gonna place this baby on every ship that can support it.

Nope. You are right. Against ships you have a 1.0 damage ratio with blue dice

It's very middle-of-the-road.

Yeah, your blue dice will do one damage each for a nice, reliable damage output.

They'll still never equal the damage potential of an equal number of black or red dice, which can double that damage output (or hit for nothing at all).

It's a game of risk vs reward.

I'm not much of a gambler, so I like having the sure thing. Put this on an ISDII, and you can do a lot of damage at medium range.

For just four points you can instead take Leading Shots, giving you re-rolls on your red and black for potentially significantly more damage.

It's a probability call that is going to vary widely based on playstyle. A nice damage base to lean on, but fairly well balanced.

Blue dice were already 0.75 so it's a small increase for those times you don't want accuracy. At 5 points. Not bad, but not awesome.

Most of the time I'd rather use that accuracy to block a single brace, which would force more damage onto the defender. The 4 damage in the example could be braced to 2, but if the accuracy blocks a brace, its 3 total.

True, but a reroll is just as likely to come up blank as the first roll. This guarantees damage, and I like that. It's not going to be guaranteeing a ton of damage, but combined with the red die in the front arc of a ISD II or VSD II, and I think it could pay off, big time.

The advantage of this is you can still use any accuracy rolls you want, but you're not stuck with them. I can't tell you how many times we've rolled several accuracy, and blanks otherwise, and my friend and I joke it's the most accurate miss possible.

To be fair, the choice is between "3 damage" and "2 damage plus an exhausted/discarded brace token". If followup shots are forthcoming, the latter could well be the better choice.

Wohohoho dominator strikes back.

The flagship of Diablo Azul XD

Both of the imperial titles that add blue dice will really like this. I don't see it being a thing on corvettes as overload pulse and dodannas pride will be their main tools.
