Wave 8 and Gozanti Spoilers in GTM 188?

By Dr Lucky, in X-Wing

One thing I think we should consider is that Disney is now involved with the production of Xwing. The new core set came out with no knowledge of it's existence ecxecpt for the mystery SKU's. I think that at least the film/cartoon ships will come out on target, if not all of the next waves. I don't take sides on the whole Disney thing, but they do know how to capitalize on buzz and their manufacturing power is tremendous.

TL;DR - The dates are right because...Disney.

We don't know for certain that they can't attack immediately following deployment, do we? I know that's the Nashtah Pup rule but like Alex Davy said in the most recent S&V podcast, that's kind of an emergency situation. Deploying the TIEs follows the Gozanti performing a manoeuvre and both TIEs get full dial choice yes?

This would be cool, to say at least.

I know Disney is some big, scary mega corporation, but I highly doubt they are that involved with the actual production. Now, I do think the Asomodee aquisition has helped the production, and is partly why they were able to get the Core out on time.

my bad

If I'm looking at this correctly, can the Gozanti carry 4 Ties?

Yep, just only comes with 2 models.

In before angry posts about people complaining that they need to purchase 2 additional TIEs.

If you have a base set (which you need to play the game) you will have 4 ties with the Gozanti.

Unless shenanigans stole your two base ties you should be fine.

Now my question: I'm wondering whether or not you can re-dock in-game. The Gozanti seems like a great way to prevent your fragile ties from being alpha-struck by better pilots; (if they are untargetable in-dock) and if re-docking is a thing the the Gozanti becomes a great shield for your ties.

Undocking also seems like it could be used as a kind of mass-decloak: drive your cruiser right through the enemy line and drop a Backstabber-equipped swarm right behind them (anything with outmaneuver would be good too).

Yep, Core plus Gozanti equals FOUR Ties!!!

Alex seemed to imply very strongly that Ties deployed from the Gonzo will be able to shoot that turn. At least it sounded that way to me. Said the Pup is a special case as the pilot is too busy not getting esploded to try and shoot.

I doubt there are any rules allowing "undeployment" for Ties. Would be kinda messy and doesn't make much intuitive sense. Ties are supposed to fight and die.

I hope/expect the Gozer has a critical hit card that causes damage to all docked Ties.

Getting 2 Gozers ANYWAY just because i can fit 2 into epic, the 4 blue ties is nice though.

It'll put my fleet to:

Battlegroup Pathfinder:

Neb-B Frigate Pathfinder

Rdr Corvette Huntress

VT-49 Retribution

VT-49 Thunderchild

Gozanti Didact

Gozanti Courage

I will continue to regret that scaling an Acclamator would be way way too expensive.

That's an ominous name for a ship.

♫OOO-LAAAH♪♪

It is, but I always name at least one of my ships Thunderchild...

One more thing:

It seems like Acadamy ties would be the best to use with the Gozanti because of their low initiative (pilot skill).

Using das zooms on the cards it looks like Gozanti has a pilot skill of 2:

Thus, while you would be able to use an undocking (deployment) maneuver and an action as per the undocking rules found here: http://xwing-miniatures.wikia.com/wiki/Deployyou would not be able to attack afterwards with anything higher than 2 initiative.

Since acadamy ties are initiative 1 they should be able to shoot after undocking.

Gammas... if they can shoot, deploy point blank on something you don't like, and deploy R1 4 attack dice.

Bonus if the gammas have targetting computers.

So my curiosity got the best of me and I went ahead and joined the Nova Scotia X-wing Facebook group to catch a glimpse of Electronic baffle. Here is the image.

Clearer view of Hera as well. Think Electronic baffle allows you to take an Ion instead of a damage? Or vice versa? Hopefully not take a damage instead of an ion... That seems pretty bland... But, it looks like it has enough space on there to include stress as well as ion on the card... That would be very interesting...

take a damage instead of an ion sounds excellent for a card.

Guys, epic ships move last each round.

Meaning the turn of the Ties you deploy is over at that point.

You'd need to wait for the next round to actually use them.

Unless there is a kind of a support upgrade that allows to to ... say spend an energy to activate a deployed ship.

This would be awesome....

No, they get a full turn after they are deployed, it basically makes them ps 12 for that one activation phase. Then they shoot in normal ps order if they get to.

Moving sure. Not shooting.

A full turn would include shooting.

A full turn would include shooting.

That is what would be implied yes, just that their movement and action would happen in the huge ship portion of the activation phase after all other small ships.

Awesome! Thanks for finding that. I updated the first post.

I wonder if this card will be a System or an Illicit? Also, I can't imagine it will cost more than one point, given how situational it is (if we are right about its effect allowing you to take damage instead of ion tokens).

I attempt to murder you.

"of the same difficulty"

That is WAY better than when we thought it was "of the same speed", geez.

We just have to wait to see the actual dial. Still, a very fun and strong ability.

Well with a 4 straight green I think its pretty safe to assume that all the lower speed straight manoeuvres are green as well.

My guess:
