Wave 8 and Gozanti Spoilers in GTM 188?

By Dr Lucky, in X-Wing

Getting 2 Gozers ANYWAY just because i can fit 2 into epic, the 4 blue ties is nice though.

And also: I've already *got* 8 grey TIEs (because: duh), so I'll happily take the 4 blue TIE Fighters and stick them next to all my othe blue TIE Fighters, and snap the 8 grey TIEs I have right into the pair of Gozantis for display...

In before angry posts about people complaining that they need to purchase 2 additional TIEs.

I'm more annoyed that, like with the Raider, I'll have to go to eBay to get the new TIE pilots without the Gozanti.

Also, I want to replace my 4 old TIE models with these, because they are that blue-gray that so sweetly matches everything else(already replaced all my Advanced models with ones from the Raider).

Not being funny of nuffink, but if you can afford to buy the individual ships you're probably better off picking up the cruisers and selling the bits you don't want, would probably cost you less that buying the individual ties.

Who cares about TIE Fighters, anyway? I want to dock Deathrain and Redline there, charge the enemy's formation with the cruiser and deploy these two behind their rears, to start releasing their sweet sweet love unharmed.

My guess would be that you can only dock fighters having the ball-form cockpit and of course no wing in between ...

Because ... the 'Tubes' would need a different docking system...

So no Bombers, Punishers, Defenders, ...

No Fighters with an hyperdrive engine could also be.

Because this is what it is about, isnt it?

To carry Fighters through hyperspace without using a Star Destroyer for this job.

This gives fighter squadrons a lot more flexibility.

Like an Interceptor squadron.

3 of this cute carriers and you can have it everywhere.

So I think basically its down to Tie Fighters and Tie Interceptors.

Even Tie Fighters only would be fair enough in my opinion.

Physically, sure. Ruleswise is anyones guess c'est ne pas?

Just buy the Gozanti and re-sell what you don't want. There will be plenty of people who want a second one but don't want the extra TIE Fighters because they already had 8.

Well in the series there is a Inquisitor's TIE docked to Gozanti, so i hope for more options than just Fighters.

Yeah,technically TIE/ln, TIE/ap, TIE/foo, TIE/IN, TIE/x1 should be able to dock on these ... clamps?

If I'm looking at this correctly, can the Gozanti carry 4 Ties?

Yep, just only comes with 2 models.

Because they didn't buy a core-set ?

Oh, THAT's a good call.

I was suspicious about it being ion-only because that's far too situational.

I don't think it will be a stress token that can be discarded. We have another token generating card in this wave:

It makes more sense to me that an Electronic Baffle would work on this than a stress token.

Je voudrais un croque-madame, s'il vous plait.

Well, I'll only buy one set of the Gozanti's TIEs, to get all the pilots and whatnot.

I did that with the Raider's Advanced and it cost me about half the cost of the Raider to get the model, stands, tokens, pilots, 1 each of the TIE/x1, ATC, and also the missiles and Palpatine.

The Advanced also works, and Rebels specifically shows the Advanced Prototype docked on the Gozanti.

I'm not sure there's a good way to limit only certain TIEs for docking, unless the Gozanti's rulebook just comes with a list.

You can see the last letter of the token name under the "01" of 2015, it's definitely not an R and most likely an S.

If this turned out to be true, this card would be far too situational to ever see consistent play unless tractor beams and Ion suddenly became as prevalent as something like turrets. And even in that case, you're choosing to take a damage to remove the ion or tractor token. If the opponents squad is flooded with these types of upgrades, you're eating damage far too often to take it anyways.

I'm not saying you're wrong Zathras23, I'm just saying it becomes infinitely worse if it removes tractor and ion tokens instead of stress and ions.

But he is wrong by all available evidence?

(also, FFG is pretty good at not making cards that are so hyper-niche as to be utterly useless except vs. specific lists)

Man, I wanna know what tractor tokens do so bad.

If it turns out to be good, curious if Scyks will suddenly become popular just for being a cheap cannon slot.

I don't see a need to post the conjectural text arrangements, but I'll just say that playing around with it, you can plausibly fit "tractor" instead of "stress", but there's no way to fit "tractor beam", no matter which line you put "beam" on.

Or another cheap cannon for the Defender.

Doesn't seem to be nearly enough room for tractor beam token either.

Place a john deere miniature in base contact with target. target receives 1 stress token and loses actions for this turn. Unless they are Arvel Crynyd.

If they are serious about releasing the Gozanti this year, I figure the preview articles have to start in the next week or two, especially if they might actually release Wave 8 quickly as well.

I've been really banking on a preview today, but no such luck so far...

I've been hoping that too. Sometimes they like to do the late Friday afternoon reveals, though Monday mornings have also been popular for X-Wing articles. One way or another, it has got to be soon.
