Nashtah Pup Deployment

By Rookie Pilot, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi. Reading the latest FAQ I see rules for Deployment. Obviously they are for Docked ships, but I'm asking myself if the Hound's Tooth card uses these rules aswell.

The card says Deploy, and really makes sense. Also, in the new Rules Reference, doesn't exist a Deploy entry, just Setup (and you Place your ships in the play area, don't Deploy them).

So, the Pup deploys from the YV-666 or from and edge of the play area?

From rear of YV666.

Cant find source now, but for sure its like that.

Thanks.

I still don't have the Hound's Tooth. Maybe it comes in the rules suplied with it?

I have just run though both Hounds Tooth card and Nashtahs card, nothing there. But i recall seeing clarification somewhere, just cannot recall where:/

It's in the rule pamphlet that came with the ship.

Digitalbusker is right. There is a substantial rulebook that comes with the YV-666 that covers all of this.

Thanks.

When the Hound's Tooth dies, you pick any maneuver on the Z-95's dial. You choose the front or back guides of the YV as a starting point and execute that maneuver off of the Hound's Tooth.

All that stuff in the rules reference is referring to 'Docked' ships - like the Phantom docked on the Ghost, or TIE fighters docked on the Gozanti.

The pup is never considered to be docked on the Hound's Tooth

Jonboyjon1990,

That is my gut feeling as well, but where does it say it is not a docked ship? We have had this discussion ad naseum at our local game shop. October 1st, people want to start deploying the Z-95 with one damage card. It just doesn't feel right to me. A reference would be great.

According to the FAQ: "Some card abilities allow players to dock ships to a carrier ship." and then "Ships must be docked pregame, during squad building, and players must pay squad points for these ships as normal."

So, the questions are:

Q: Does the card ability of the Nashtah Pup say it is docked?

A: No.

Q: Does the card ability of the Hound's Tooth title say the Pup is docked?

A: No.

Q: Did you pay for a Z-95 that you can deploy anytime?

A: No.

Q: Or did you buy an Upgrade that allowed you to use one on the destruction of a particular ship?

A: Yes

The Pup is not a docked ship. It's more of an escape pod with guns. It doesn't fall into any of the required parameters for docked ships. The extensive rules in the FAQ are for the Imperial Assault Carrier and it's TIEs, and the Ghost/Phantom.

It doesn't say anywhere that it is. Docked ships are ships that you pay for as normal that are attached to ships via an ability. The Tooth spawns the Pup when it dies.

Furthermore, why would you want to deploy the Pup with a damage card rather than at full health?

Plus, FFG answered an email about it and said that neither the damage cards nor the upgrade cards of the YV-666 that had the Hound's Tooth title transfer over.
