All my Imperials

By RC8015FiSkirata, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So, my friend and I are planning a 450-pt battle. He will be bringing a GR-75, 3 Y-Wings, 3 A-Wings, 3 X-Wings, 1 B-Wing, and 1 YT-2400. Fortunately, he does not have any TLTs, so those won't be an issue. Against this, I have a slightly larger force of 5 TIE Fighters, 5 TIE Interceptors, a TIE Defender, a TIE Phantom, a VT-49 Decimator, and a TIE Bomber. Pretty much all my Imperials. So, I had two questions:

1) Does anyone else ever have the huge battles with massive starfighter fleets facing each other

and

2) What do you think of the following list?

Major Rhymer (26)
Push the Limit (3)
Extra Munitions (2)
Advanced Proton Torpedoes (6)
Advanced Homing Missiles (3)
Shield Upgrade (4)
Commander Kenkirk (44)
Determination (1)

Moff Jerjerrod (2)
Mara Jade (3)
Ysanne Isard (4)

Fire-Control System (2)

Advanced Cloaking Device (4)
"Howlrunner" (18)
Swarm Tactics (2)
Hull Upgrade (3)
"Dark Curse" (16)

"Night Beast" (15)
Targeting Computer (2)
Colonel Vessery (35)
Outmaneuver (3)
Soontir Fel (27)
Daredevil (3)
Stealth Device (3)
Autothrusters (2)
Royal Guard TIE (0)
Carnor Jax (26)
Push the Limit (3)
Stealth Device (3)

Royal Guard TIE (0)
Tetran Cowall (24)
Outmaneuver (3)

Black Squadron Pilot (14)
Ruthlessness (3)
Stealth Device (3)
"Mauler Mithel" (17)

Total: 450

Brain hurts ... too much to process ... still getting used to deciphering 100 pt lists ...

Seriously, though, it's hard to tell how ships work in this size of a game. All normal balance and synergy go out the window. Soontir can't arc dodge everything. Vader can't tank everything. It becomes just a maneuver everything best so make sure you have a shot every turn, maximize your damage, and see what is left in a few rounds. As the ships get eliminated, then see what happens with what is left when you can maneuver and it makes a difference.

With that being said, you might want to hold your end game ships back a bit so they aren't eliminated first. See what happens and go from there. Most people have very little experience with games of this size (me included), so good luck.

First of all, yes, Plunking all of your ships on the table for a huge day (or two) of x-wing can be fun, but not very often (it takes a long time and can be draining).

Second of all, I wouldn't worry about how 'competitive' your list is at this level----the point is to have a huge battle with stuff blowing up all over the place, so take whatever you like. I think your list is as good as any for this sort of thing ;)
