Rock, Paper, Scissors , who's the better side

By Space Cadet, in X-Wing

So who's the greatest side to play with, each side has unique characteristics, abilities and Star Wars styles. Pros & Cons balance each side on many levels BUT which side plays the best when the pieces play across the table.

ain't no

such thing

Rebels

The side who has the ships you love

Stating Rock Paper Scissors in reference to the factions implies that the factions are actually balanced in their abilities. Choosing a 'best' is then not possible.

It's probably easiest to make more competative lists from the rebels, though. Not the same thing as best.

they are all surprisingly well rounded.. but The Empire has cooler pilots and ships!!! Unless we get a Rogue Squadron pack..

Imperials

:)

There is nothing more iconic and fun than a tie swarm. They play exactly like the movies, are fun, and can be competitive as well.

Imperials

Rebs have:

  • Shield Regen pilot and crew cards
  • Biggs
  • Focus Pass
  • Free Action Pass from multiple sources
  • Range 3 on many pilot abilities
  • C3PO
  • Outrider
  • MF Title
  • Ignore or use Stress on multiple pilots
  • Ignore Obstacles
  • Ignore Crits pilot and crew card
  • 2x EPTs
  • Double Tap
  • Re-roll Your Re-rolled Attack Dice through the loophole that is attack cancellation

I'd say they have the edge.

Fixed that for ya friend :)

Glad to see someone made this fix before I had to.

But I disagree on them playing exactly like the movies. My TIEs occasionally hit things. Amazing what we can accomplish when the propagandistic plot armor has been removed.

There is nothing more iconic and fun than a scyk swarm. They play exactly like the EU, are like ties but with shields, and can be competitive as well.

Glad to see someone turned down for what before I had to.

But I disagree on them playing exactly like the novels. My TIEs occasionally lose initiative to scyks. Amazing what we can accomplish when the propagandistic plot armor is in full force.

I prefer bacon...

I just can't pick a favourite. Empire has spammable bombers, Rebellion has just generally fun ships and Scum pilots are plain evil. Every faction has something I like to play.

Scum for me. Chock full of nasty surprises, dirty tricks and hilarious abilities. They appeal to my inner sadist.

I thought this was going to be a thread about Jousters/Arc-Dodgers/Turrets...

Your description doesn't apply to the factions in this game, I think.

I lean towards Imperials lately, but in a competitive tournament I'd strongly consider Rebels. Tankier ships are less likely to die to one bad roll. But then again, that's why I like the TIE Advanced so much...

My life for AUIR

Imperial. Tie fighters arr the coolest, most iconic ships in the game that actually play effectively.

Fire spray is awesome, Darth Vader is cool as ****, interceptors are the best flankers and I refuse to acknowledge how poor defenders usually perform, I love em.

It all comes back to the tie fighters, tho. Hard to build a list without two academies.

Reminded me of traffic school:

When four cars all come to a four way stop at the same time, who goes first?

I love the feel of a scum force with their tricks and manuevers, rebels have really reliable ships that get the job done and look brutal. Imperials never appealed to me that much. I think in a competitive environment it probably goes slightly toward rebels cos of their fat turrets but there will be many who suggest otherwise.

Two TIE-Fighters? Thats a Doomshuttle, my friend.

The one with the biggest balls, usually sideways and yelling "ye har" out the window.
