A question about Wendigo freezing ability

By wtfboar, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi, we had this come up last night and I am not sure how to resolve it.

Wendigo freezing ability states that: "Each time a hero enters a space adjacent to this monster, that hero suffers 1 fatigue

The situation that came up is a hero was trying to move past the Wendigo to search a token. He had 0 fatigue and 1 movement point remaining as he moved past. Now he needed to move the 1 additional space to be able to search the token with his last action.

The question is; Can the hero move his last space even though he has no fatigue left to pay for the Wendigo freezing ability? Or does he get to move and ignore the fatigue drain because he has no more fatigue points available to spend?

During the game, me as OL, I allowed him to move even though he couldn't spend the point. His argument ways that since he can't pay the fatigue point because he is already maxed that he just ignores the penalty. But that seams wrong to me even though I allowed it to keep the game moving/ And I, the OL, ended up winning the encounter. (evil laugh)

It is an involuntary effect. He may still move and suffers a fatigue. Per the rules, if he is forced to suffer a fatigue and cannot, he suffers a wound instead. You got duped by a hero.

I think you meant wound right? I had forgotten that rule
