New deck in testing - pure solo

By Lecitadin, in Strategy and deck-building

Hi! I'm begining to use Tactics (after 1 year and a half of pure solo playing...), and I've done a nice 3 sphered deck.

If you have a look at it and have ideas to improve it, you're more than welcome! ;)

I've tested it againts Conflict at the Carrock (normal quest, 1 win on 2 games), soon I'll take it for a spin with a nightmare quest. Note that the sidequests are perfect for this quest if you get them early in the game.

Power of Orthanc can be replaced if they are no Conditions in the quest.

Total Cards: 52

Heroes (starting threat: 26)

Aragorn ( The Lost Realm )

Merry ( The Wastes of Eriador )

Rossiel ( Escape from Mount Gram )

Allies (20)

3x Derndingle Warrior ( Escape from Mount Gram )

2x Arwen Undómiel ( The Watcher in the Water )

3x Ethir Swordsman ( The Steward's Fear )

2x Galadriel's Handmaiden ( Celebrimbor's Secret )

2x Westfold Horse-breeder ( The Voice of Isengard )

3x Master of the Forge ( Shadow and Flame )

3x Warden of Healing ( The Long Dark )

2x Ranger of Cardolan ( The Wastes of Eriador )

2x Dagger of Westernesse ( The Black Riders )

2x Rohan Warhorse ( The Voice of Isengard )

2x Ancient Mathom ( A Journey to Rhosgobel )

2x Light of Valinor ( Foundations of Stone )

2x Unexpected Courage ( Core Set )

2x A Burning Brand ( Conflict at the Carrock )

2x Cloak of Lórien ( Celebrimbor's Secret )

2x Fast Hitch ( The Dead Marshes )

Events (14)

2x Foe-hammer ( Over Hill and Under Hill )

3x A Test of Will ( Core Set )

3x Hasty Stroke ( Core Set )

2x Power of Orthanc ( The Voice of Isengard )

2x Leave No Trace ( Escape from Mount Gram )

2x Keen as Lances ( Escape from Mount Gram )

Quests (2)

1x Double Back ( Escape from Mount Gram )

1x Scout Ahead ( The Wastes of Eriador )

Deck built with Rivendell Councilroom

Needs tweaking, takes time to get going (maybe include more Lore allies, like Ents).

What are you trying to do with the deck specifically? I might be able to offer some advice if I knew more. For example, how do you plan on defending? Questing? Etc.

Defenders seem to be a combination of Rossiel, Derindingle Warrior and Arwen's buff.

Questers are the Ethir Swordsmen and again Rossiel,

The main issue I'm seeing here is that it's a tri-sphere deck with little resource smoothing or acceleration. How would you be coping with the first few rounds as you set up? Relying on Rangers to drop for your hand as backup defenders?

Yep, resources are a huge problem (thatMs why I rarely use 3 sphered decks). If the deck doesn't it's small combos in place early, well.. you're done.

Rossiel is used for questing and defending, Aragorn for attacking. Thanks for the comments!

If you are planning on using Rossiel as a defender then I would up the Burning Brands to three and drop the Hasty Strokes to zero. Now find another way to increase her defense a little more such as Gondorian Shield. (I know you have Arwen.)

Foe Hammer is only going to trigger off of the Dagger in this deck and they are two each. Not very reliable. I love Foe Hammer, but in my experience you need at least three weapons in your pile and four isn't too many. Since you already have Master of the Forge to aid your card draw I would up Ancient Mathom to three copies and drop Foe Hammer entirely.

It seems a crime to me not to have None Return in the deck somewhere at two copies or more.

Aragorn needs a better weapon... (maybe he'll get one in the next pack).

Thanks for the feedback! Good advice. And I didn't get the AP with Non Return (player cards too weak, I think).

Proxy it.

If you want Rossiel to be a good defender, you really want None Return. Also, the player cards in that pack are fine, it's just Dori who's not that good.

Any pack that brought us Fair and Perilous and Wellinghall Preserver is not weak IMO (funny how a terrible hero can determine so much of what we think of a pack). I agree with the other suggestions as well, None Return seems like an auto-include.

I ordered the pack today with the new Rhudaur one. It's just that for me, the pack is more geared towards multiplayer, I always play pure solo. I bought it mostly for the Ent.
