Does the the Core Rulebook digital download pdf include latest updates?

By unv, in Dark Heresy General Discussion

Hi,

I noticed a PDF file under Support section called "Dark Heresy Second Edition FAQ" which to me seems not an FAQ but rather a list of changes and additions between version 1.0 and version 1.1 of the Core Rulebook. Literally it says "Change the description from X to Z" in such and such section, or "Add the following paragraph" etc.

How would the owners of the version 1.0 of the Rulebook apply these changes? Especially if they have the hard copy of the book? But even with PDF copies, editing PDFs is not an easy task in itself, and there appears to be quite a lot of small changes to be made.

So, my question is, is the digital download of the Core book listed in the store here already at version 1.1 released in July 2015, or would I still need to manually update it after I purchase it?

THanks!

Having experienced the industry, I highly doubt it. I have not redownloaded from RPG.net since launch, but I would be very surprised if they ever updated any PDF. Ever. Generally speaking despite the ease to do so, only very modern or dedicated digital releases ever bother with something as simple or as practical as updating PDFs.

For example, they could have easily included all the updates and several sections of character details and just tacked them into the corebook even without incorporating them. Instead they just release new PDFs of errata or whole new PDFs of supplemental info. Not the worst thing, but I have always found this practice to be at best, an after thought or at worst lazy.

The digital copy is not updated with the FAQ. It would be nice if it was the case though!

Well Errata pdfs are very useful to people who buy hard copies of the book.

Remember, some of us still enjoy living in the stone age!

Very true. I have both. Nothing sits a nicely as having the phsyical corebook next to you. But I would still prefer them to integrate and update PDFs or do both, release standalone and integrated. But as a GM, it is often in the hands of my players, so it is very hand especially with the search function and index of a digital PDF. I also put it up on a Onedrive account and a shared googledrive account so all my players can browse it at their leisure.
