Is the Scum K fighter too much Star Trek

By Hexdot, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Yesterday I played a small game with my grandopa ( the one who said " no 3d rules ? This a pretty looking game but not a wargame, boy"). "Scum, thats look fine...pirates, uh???. No.more Rebel amateurs. Ok".

And when i took the minis... " this is a Star Trek ship ".....mmmmmm..." No, grandpa, this is the newest Scum Fighter..."

"No, this is Klingon Style"...

And I thought... Damm it... Perhaps it.is...

It's really not

The Special K looks nothing like a K'Tinga/D7 Klingon cruiser.

No, but it does look like a Bird of Prey. Not identical, but at first glance.

It is a little too Star Trekkie for me, never did like the K-Wing which to me took a page out of the GI Joe handbook of vehicle design: add more guns.

Meh. I don't think so but everyone sees things differently.

I think they do, but I like that look.

Reminds me more of a bomber plane with the cockpit up at the front.

I don't know how to break this to you, but your grandpa is a troll.

Well done, granddad, well done.

it does look a little Klingonish in overall shape when viewed from the top and with out my glasses on...

I do not care, I love the K. But I think some Trekkie details are present. Zero drama about it, I love bith SW and ST

Not the K-wing, the Kihrasxzsfsgsz

It has a vaguely Trekkish feel to it, like they borrowed one of the designers for Star Trek and had him help design it. However, unlike many Star Trek ships, it doesn't look completely stupid. Mostly stupid, sure, but it's no D'Kyr Vulcan.

the K-rax however and the E wing look BSGish!!

For sure. Possibly the reason I love their looks so much.

Ditto I've never understood why so many people think Star Trek ans Star Wars is a must like one and hate the other kind of thing. They are pretty much completely different settings other then both involving spacecraft and both having the word Star in their titles.

Even the formats are different Trek is primarily a TV series Franchise with movies, novels, and games as secondaries while Wars is primarily a movie Franchise with TV series, novels, and games as secondaries.

I'm pretty sure that none of the TV programming for either franchise ever competed directly against the other Franchise's and I don't think the films ever competed directly. In fact based on what I can find regarding release dates there is at least six months between the theatrical release of a new Star Wars film and the theatrical release of a new Star Wars film and usually the gap is a year or more. The only exception to this I can find is the theatrical releases of the OT special editions and Star Trek: First Contact but even then there was a two month gap between First Contact being released in theaters and the A New Hope special edition being released in theaters.

Actually, if anything I think it looks like a Runabout.

That is uninspiring...your delivery sir, sign here. This one looks like a transport van.
