I have flown a 2 Advanced and 1 Interceptor list in the last 3 tournaments. I have won 2 and came in second in the other.
Edited by Bjorn RockfistSo where are all the TIE Advanced now?

Long live the mighty Empire!!
I've had a lot of success with my 'Steele Curtain' list. I've had a boat load of fun flying it.
Colzet with FCS
Mareek with ATC, Predator and Advanced Homing Missile
Vessery with VI and HLC
Hmm will have to try this out.
Well Vader is doing work but like most other 20+ point ships the generics are not doing so well. I have seen Juno a little, Vader a lot, not so much of anything else to include Marrek even with the new damage deck.
The anti-swarm meta will always revolve around high Pilot Skill ships.
Edited by MarinealverI think the new Juke EPT looks worth trying out on Vader. He gets to attack very early on and then has an Evade token to spend later. Any thoughts on how useful this would be versus Predator or a different EPT on Vader?
idk, Vader has felt pretty weaksauce to me so far
lack of thrusters will do that to a guy
basically, great pilot with a convincing offensive threat; needs to be played extremely well
given my definition of "OP" is "pre-errata whisper," Vader really doesn't get anywhere near even the remote vicinity of OP
Vader is indeed much squishier than 5 health, 3 agility and 2 actions would suggest.
I've found the best approach is to fly him a little bit like you fly Wedge: throw caution to the wind and go for maximum damage. Doesn't matter how squishy you are if the enemy isn't alive to shoot back. ![]()
Yeah, i've had the experience of just demolishing the tie advanceds people keep flying at me as their damage output proves a bit underwhelming considering what they're spending on them.
People locally are still trying to explore them, though. We'll see. I'm absolutely not afraid of palpmobile builds though, that's for sure.
I have been really loving a Kagi/Jax/Strom build recently. I'm still tweaking the upgrades to fit my play style, but the core is solid, and Strom with Sensor Jammer is really solid.
I also think Colzet with FCS is the best 23 points you can spend, and works well with an Obsidian swarm.
Yeah. Advanced are around. We're just so spoilt for choice that you don't *have* to.
If you guys are worried about damage output take Maarek. I took him in a tournament last weekend and did 5 damage to a y-wing in a single turn with his ability. Fishing for crits is an amazing ability when you can now reliably cause them.
I'm absolutely not afraid of palpmobile builds though, that's for sure.
Then I might humbly suggest that you have yet to meet a well flown one.
It's a very high-skill, high-reward list, much like Triple-Squint or BroBots. And like those lists, a poorly flown one will crash and burn and make you wonder what all the fuss is about. But a well flown one will obliterate you in such dominating fashion that you'll accuse your opponent of cheating.

It could be, but the Bosskinator(YV with Bossk/Gunner/Tactician) almost always gets good shots against squint/advanceds(which two alone will not kill enough to bother me too much), and I run a midi-swarm with him so I can get a lot of shots. Keeping stuff in front of me's not the easiest thing but the Kihrakz can turn well on a dime and if you're unpredictable you can play into em. Could be the people in my meta- Squints work a bit better with a nice big distraction and Palpmobile is no Chiraneau.

Current list is:
Vader + SL + X1 + ATC + EU
Soontir + RGT + PtL + AT + SD
Maarek + Cal + X1 + ATC
I use Vader to allow Maarek a second action usually a TL now that my opponents ships are in range. Then Vader and Soontir to strip shields and Maarek between his focus and the ATC can get 1 if not 2 crits through. I am killing a ship each turn. If they go after and kill Maarek early then I still have EU on Vader to make him arc dodge and get good shots.
I am thinking of trying a Vader, Soontir, and Juno list soon. If I do I'll drop SL from Vader and try her with PtL. For Vader I don't know if I want to take Pred or Outman as his EPT.
Edited by Bjorn RockfistI'm telling you, Soontir, Juno, Maarek is the business.
I played a 150 point tournament w/ four tie advanceds+ATC (vader+swarm tactics, juno, maarek, and tempest) and col jendon+ST-321+weapon engineer. It was 2-1 and the only loss was to the 2nd place finisher (if I remember correctly he was running 4+ TLT,)
I have also found that this list also makes for a great base for a list in epic. Throwing all those crits wreaks havoc on cr-90s or turncoat raiders.
Lt. Colzet+Fire control system is also a pretty nifty ship build and it is five points cheaper than Maarek+ATC.

I've been playing with a similar idea combined with palpatine at 100pts:
jendon+st-321+palpatine 37
zertik strom+predator+tie/x1+ATC 30
vader+predator+tie/x1+ATC 33
I'm not a tournament player so don't know how competitive it is, but it's a really fun list to use.
Dan
They are doing well, and fit into the meta in a good spot.
Don't forget we are still in a two ship meta where not taking a big ship hurts you, as the mov change takes effect you'll see Vader Juno and maarek turn up.
In casual play I've been using them with defenders and they work really well.
With defenders? Seems rather expensive. What type of list did you use there?
Vader vessery and Steele work great together, Vader takes ATC and predator, vessery just needs VI and Steele ATC and predator.
The two V's strip shields then maarek delivers the crit of your choice, highly accurate and usually kills a ship each turn.
Something similar would be:
Rexler + Predator + Twing Ion MKII
Markel Stele + Predator + Tie X1 Title + ATC + Shield Upgrade
Lieutenant Clozet + FCS + Tie X1
Bad choices all around for your opponent. Clozet if he is still around should have plenty of damage cards he could flip. And depending on target Rexler and Markel can get their abilities triggering as well.
Vader: predator, engine upgrade, X1, ATC
Marek: predator, X1, ATC
Juno: predator, X1, ATC
Opponents keep double checking my cards to see if it's legal when I attack. I've found this a bit squishy, so I've also been trying:
Vader: predator, engine upgrade, X1, ATC
Marek: predator, X1, ATC, stealth
Alozen: adrenaline rush (or other), X1, AC, stealth
Vader: predator, engine upgrade, X1, ATC
Marek: predator, X1, ATC
Juno: predator, X1, ATC
I feel like, for the 3 points you spend on Predator, you're much better off putting PTL on Maarek and Juno.
Edited by DarthEnderXAnd you'd be wrong, because actionless rerolls give you a way to double-mod rolls where you couldn't spend the ATC TL. Predator is THE ATC counterpart EPT.
Vader: predator, engine upgrade, X1, ATC
Marek: predator, X1, ATC
Juno: predator, X1, ATC
I feel like, for the 3 points you spend on Predator, you're much better off putting PTL on Maarek and Juno.
Not with that dial.

I've seen it work on Mk.II ships, but not generally with ATC.
Well, given that you NEED the target lock to use the ATC, you wouldn't rather TL and focus/evade/roll instead of just rerolling an attack die?
Not with that dial.
Oh right. The stress. I forgot I usually combine it with the TIEmk2.
Edited by DarthEnderXI just did very well in a game with Vader (EU+ATC+DD) + PalpDeci against 2 TLT Y + IonStresshog + TLT HWK. Although I had ATC on Vader I was only able to use it once, in the last turn of the game - rest of the time was doing dancing magic with EU, BR, DD. So it was basically the good old Vader as he used to be plus some minor support. Used Emperor once on Vader and saved several hits from Kenkirk, having the Deci survive longer (2 turns I would say) than my opponent liked :-)
Vader was targeted only twice by the TLT and lost shields, the rest of the game he was too close for TLT and behind those Y, so he had all the fun. DD makes him so absurdly agile (several times overlapping one and shooting another in R1) that TLT will only be able to shoot him once during initial approach (maybe) or when he breaks his formation apart (but then you go for that lone straggler).
Deci made sure that those ships didn't have much space to move, thanks to large base, keeping them mostly in one place.
Will use that Vader more often, for sure :-) I also have an eye on you, Maarek!
Well done FFG. It is wonderful to read so many different comments concerning TIE advanced pilots. Everybody is recommending something different. I see suggestions and particular praises for all of the different TIE advanced pilots. For me it shows how well balanced the TIE advanced pilots are to each other. This is how it should be. Only taste and predilection should be responsible for picking pilots ![]()
