So where are all the TIE Advanced now?

By CaineHoA, in X-Wing

No reports of them...means they are wiping the opposition out completely. Dead men tell no tales.

Well, given that you NEED the target lock to use the ATC, you wouldn't rather TL and focus/evade/roll instead of just rerolling an attack die?

Not with that dial.

Oh right. The stress. I forgot I usually combine it with the TIEmk2.

Surely Juno can handle PtL? Or do you *need* a green turn?

I have been playing them since the cards were first spoiled as my local shop does not mind proxies. Now that I have the real thing they are great. My favorite build right now is Vader with Predator EU Tie X1 ATc, Lt Colzet with Tie X1 and AC, and Whisper with VI FCS ACD and IA. I am 3 -0 so far going against two rebel aces build and a scum tlt build. Vader and Whisper make my opponents choice for priority target tough.

My next build will be Vader with Two Defenders. I love the defender and will see how far I can push this build. I will use Vader with Predator EU Tie X1 ATC and Delta with TIE MK11 x2.

I have not been impressed with Juno so far but have not played her that much. Colzet is very effective if situational.

Just consider that if she is using PTL, without a green turn, it's even tough for her to get turned around.

Vader: predator, engine upgrade, X1, ATC

Marek: predator, X1, ATC

Juno: predator, X1, ATC

I feel like, for the 3 points you spend on Predator, you're much better off putting PTL on Maarek and Juno.

Not with that dial.

Juno has a lot better dial than the other TIE Advanced.

Tempests + AccC still frequent many successful lists I have used. Those are very sturdy, reliable ships.

Alozen + ATC is an action efficient way to use ATC. Great against low PS ships.

I think Juno's dial is great, but it's still not a dial suited to PTL, IMO.

Wenn the Title was introduced everyone was thrilled how good they are going to be. I don't read a lot of discussion abut them anymore.

Who plays them?

To what success?

Is other stuff already better again?

They're at my FLGS. Cleaning house.

They have a weakness to high attack values, like 4+, but i've seen 2x tempest w/ AC, Lt. Colzet w/ FCS, and Zertik Strom w/ AC run with exceptional success. Be wary of B-Wings and HLCs.

I think Juno's dial is great, but it's still not a dial suited to PTL, IMO.

When you consider she has the added benefit of choosing the speed of her maneuver when she flips her dial, she is much less reliant on hard turns for positioning. And she still has access to those 1 turns if she needs them (although granted, that won't shed any stress). But due to the action hungry nature of the ATC and her ability to pick her movement speed AFTER she sees lower pilot skills move, I think she's well suited to PtL. It also lets her turtle up effectively if you get caught out of position.

I've had tried flying her with VI to get the most out of her ability, PtL and Engine Upgrade to keep pace with Vader and dodge arcs, and a few other combinations, and she's always performed well no matter how I kit her out, so at the end of the day it's really just personal taste I guess.

I am 4-0 now with that build:

Vader (Tie X1, Predator, Engine Upgrade, ATC)

Colzet(Tie X1, FCS)

Redline(FCS, Extra Mun., Cluster Missiles, Plasma Torpedos, Seismic Charges)

Vader takes up one flank and the other two the other. Colzet usually takes the first hit, but as long as he can use his ability he ends up being the monkey wrench in my opponents plans, even when being held together by patches, spit, and wishful thinking only...

i think partly why it's not really seen is that it comes with an imperial raider; even though the secondary market is a available it takes longer to filter. That and new ships usually receive more attention initially than the older models anyway

The Tie Advance is one of the ships I feel can deal with Y-Wings efficiently, being either able to throw out critical s or dish out two damage constantly means that it can very rapidly weaken them if flown well. Plus while green dice are unreliable, having 3 on a ship that basically costs 21/22 base is pretty **** good in my opinion. The named pilots just make it even more aggressive.

Go look at the Tie Defender thread. Everyone is pairing their Defenders with Tie Advanced.

I think I'll try a list with one tomorrow. That and my new Tie FO's.

i run 3 and havnt lost yet

Used three with AC and vessery they killed the yv666 in two turns then chewed up two y-wing's just as fast.

I think it really surprised him how quickly I decimated a list with so many hit points.

Most of my Imperial builds have at least one TIE Advanced. I placed 2nd in a local tourney running Whisper, Steele and Colzet. Its hard to find a better use of 32 pts then Steele, PTL, ATC and MK II.

I've had success with Vader and using him as a distraction that opponents chase while I shoot them. As long as he doesn't get blocked and shot at multiple times he can be a tough nut to crack.

I've been trying out Juno lately and prefer Predator over PTL as it opens up her dial, MK II notwithstanding. Definitely need more practice with her.

I love TIE Advances and think they fill a much needed role in the Imperial fleet.

Okay, hypothetical.

I have 70 points to spend on 3 generic Advanced.

Do I go with, 3 PS2s with AC and TIEmk2? Or 3 PS4 with AC and nothing?

Testify!

Personally I would take the PS4 for Predator protection/PS2 TLT carriers over the stress clearing of the MK II.
