Actually, volume won't make it more or less reliable.The more participate, the better the reliability of the results
Maybe not more reliable, but I do think there's a higher chance on the result being more valid than it would be with a smaller number of respondents. Obviously, there would still be threats to validity (e.g. underrepresentation from non-English speaking countries), but I do think it would be more likely to be valid than drawing a smaller sample from the same pool of possible respondents.
But maybe the mathematicians disagree.
