Hey guys, just ordered the core set in anticipation for a massing at sullust tournament on October 18. So that gives me about a month to figure out this game, and tweak my build. Problem is I have no idea what else to get or what ships/squadrons are the A+ stuff and what's crap. So that's where you guys come in. Help me pick out a good build. Give me some ideas on what's must haves and what's not. I don't have a ton of money to spend because this is my 5th string game (X-Wing, Imperial Assualt, Bolt Action, and Warhammer take up the top 4) so I wouldn't mind getting a decent force on the table for about $30-60 more.

I am also leaning towards rebels over imperials.. But feel free to sway me.

Hi mate

Just my 2 cents worth. You can pretty much build good competitive lists with the following additions to the core set.

Rebel - Get one or two Assault Frigates

Imperial - Get two Gladiators

That would be the cheapest way to get most of what you're after and should be able to build competitive lists combined with the core set.

FYI I didn't include any squadron set but you can add a couple if you have the finances. The reason I left them out is that the general consensus is that you can do without for now and if you want a fighter screen you can always use the X wings or Ties from the starter. Hope this helps.

Edit - maybe pick up one of the squadron sets to give you some fighter screen flexibilty or to get Major Rhymer for the imperials

So maybe a assault frigate and the squadrons pack?

If it was me I would go with 2 Assault Frigates.

But if you like fighter squadrons then get 1 and 1.

Personally I would go with a 2 Assault Frigate build and either a Neb or Corvette in support.

Add in some Xwings if you like from the starter.

Wow, just got all the rebel ships from wave 1 for $58 on eBay. New:) best I could find closer to that was $75 for all 4. What a steal. Ok guys, so I'll have a core and each of the rebel sets to work with:)
