TIE/fo

By Gadgetron, in X-Wing

So... What happened to that rear firing cannon?

Or is that only on special TIE/fo craft?

The TIE/fo appears to be a "standard" First Order TIE Fighter.

The "Special Forces" variant is a different beast. I would guess we will probably see it in the next wave of Ep7 expansions.

Special forces huh... 5 bucks its in an ace box...

No, the ship is different and will probably get its own model.

I think it should just be a Title, but that's probably not the case. If it was, it would have been in the TIE/FO expansion pack.

It's different though. It has cogs and a gun thing on the bottom and its got some red paint on it.

Do you think the trend in the new movies in respect to the TIE will be the opposite as in the OT, in respect to their designs?

I mean, in the OT, all the TIEs had in common (more or less) the cockpit and the pylons, and they tried our different panel designs. In this movie we are seeing already two different TIE models that have in common the panels, but alter the cockpit and the pylons. It rings to me like something in the name vibe they have gone with inverting the colors.

I really hope not. Because it's much less cool and interesting.

TIE Fighters, Bombers and Interceptors all look immediately distinct.

TIE FO and Special Forces TIE don't.

The turret is on the Special Forces TIE Fighter, which is a two-seater variant with a turret, a rear window, and big gear-like connections to the wings. It's also probably a bit bigger for the cockpit to hold two people.

Who wants to bet that one will be 4 hull & no shields?

Uh, not me? Why would it have no shields when the chummier version has shields? That's silly.

Welcome to jjwars, he changes things at random just cause.

Let's be honest at that point in time tie interceptors should be the standard ship not tie fighters which were out of date by the battle of endor.

I hope the cog is good but after the disappointing fo I'm not sure it'll be worth it.

Yea, I'm worried about my tie interceptors, those are my favorite ship...

I'm hoping the first order is just a faction of the overall imperial remnant and that updated interceptors are the backbone of other more connected factions.

I'm hoping that the whole first order is just a bad dream that Admiral Thrawn was having and he wakes up mid movie!

While I think it's entirely possible there's plenty of Imperial Remnant around, I think that, given that the First Order is called...well, the First Order, they're probably the new core/leadership of the Empire.

Or it could just be a cool name? At the moment everything is in the air and we know nothing. It's both exciting and frustrating, i'm trying to gauge if a TIE/FO has a hyperdrive(thinking not as standard - no sled), when they came about (are they refitting old TIE hulls as I expected?) when the T-70 came into play. What happened to other canonical units (the 181st) Are defenders still in...

So many canon questions I can't answer. So many blank pages - as a DM very frustrating.
