Need opinions to complete a team

I played this team tonight and I really liked it.

Poe Dameron+Predator+Autothrusters+R5-P9+Plasma Torpedoes

Kyle Katarn+Determination+Twin Laser Turret+Recon Specialist+Moldy Crow

But, I didn't really got to use the torpedoes, and quite frankly, they are so situational that I'm not sure I like them. The idea was that first turn of engagement, I TL with Poe and then give him a focus with Kyle ability, So I roll a 4 dice attack with a reroll and focus thanks to Poe ability and Predator. But, for them to be useful, you need to be firing at a target that have a lot of shield and not that much agility. Long story short, I want to switch them for something else, I'm sure those 3 points can be spent better elsewhere. Here's the ideas, all of them freeing 3 points by dropping the Plasma, of course:

1- Drop Determination on Kyle and switch the Plasma for a Proton Torpedoes. Now I'm more guaranteed to score 4 hits thanks to the added bonus of switching the first focus to a crit. It could cripple a ship with few shield soon in the game.

2- Drop Determination on kyle and give him an Engine Upgrade so he can get out of range 1 (TLT inefficient) or close the distance to give his focus. Only drawback, he won't focus the turn he boost and with a TLT and also giving a focus away every turn, the reserve can drop down pretty fast.

3- Give Kyle a Hull Upgrade. With Determination, a lot of focus thanks to Moldy Crow and Recon and a 5th hull, he can now takes a beating and survive to live another day.

4- Switch Determination on Kyle for Predator or another EPT. Takes a Flechette Torpedoes on Poe if I have the 2 points left to spare.

Any other ideas?

I like idea #3, the hull upgrade on Kyle Katarn, the best. Determination and 5 Hull is a good combo for increasing survival chances.

Also has the added bonus of not being affected by Flechette Torpedoes stress... not that I see a lot of those around, but we never know.

I would go with option 2, personally. TLT + engine is really good, even against higher PS because you make it very difficult for anything to get into R1. Being able to control range to avoid damage or set up your own shots is always better than 1 more hull. I know your concern is running out of focus (between the TLT and passing off to Poe), but really you should be fine. Firstly, with predator, Poe doesn't need the focus handout from Kyle every turn (only when he boosts or is facing some heavy fire) and secondly, you won't be using engine all the time, so most of the time you will continue to add to that focus pile...

Best defense always been to not be shot at in the first place. I'll definetly have to give it a go with the engine upgrade. When I played it yesterday, I noticed 2-3 situation where a boost would have been handy, especially with the limited HWK dial.

So for now, both opinions go into giving more survivability to Kyle, only with a different approach.

Not to complicate matters, but it just occured to me that you could use 4 points to change the plasma torp to a flechette torp for anti-soontir tech on Poe. Then the remaining 2 pts could be used to bump the bandits to Talas. This would be a meta choice though. Talas are useful against lots of PS2 and flechette is only good vs interceptors and maybe aggressors too. I only thought of it because you may feel like too many points are going into Kyle, but I still prefer the engine, but I've always been a sucker for mobility given the option ;)

That's a very interesting idea that I'll keep in mind if I expect a lot of PS2 TLTs Y-Wing, BBBBZ or Generic Advanced, but since people tend to play elite around here and I'm one of the few that actually like to fly generic pilots, bumping the Zs to PS4 will not be useful most of the time.

Just switching the Plasma for a Flechette could be nice though. It could be useful when going against arc dodgers or Double IGs. I would probably keep determination on Kyle though.

My goal ultimately is to lure my opponent in wanting to attack Kyle first, because I want Poe in the end-game. If he decide to go for Poe, I'll try to bail out with him to lick the wounds thanks to R5-P9 while pinging my opponent with the TLT and Bandits. If he goes for Kyle, I need to do enough damage so that when Kyle goes down, there is not enough opposition left to put enough pressure on Poe that can regenerate one shield per round. Bandits are there to annoy my opponent enough to force him to waste some shots on them.

What I like about Hull+Determination is that Kyle should be able to survive longer allowing me to do the damage needed.

What I like about Engine Upgrade, is that now the Crow can be maneuvrable and fast, allowing me to arc-dodge or run away.

What I like about the Flechette Torpedoes is that it might give me the edge needed against arc-dodger.
