So armada will soon start of for real with the release of wave 2 wich includes both a 100pts increase in standard play and large ships. We get both the mon calamari cruiser and the ISD so the thing I've been waiting on is to play a big game like the battle of endor battle from return of the jedi.
But there are still some stuff missing and I wonder what you guys think will arrive later in the game's lifespan. I know we haven't yet got the wave 2 ships so maybe it's too early to speculate but I'm really pumped.
I got pretty dissapointed that Han was the only pilot we get in the wave 2 fighter pack, sure Han should be there but where's Lando? We get him as a crew in the mc30 pack but not on the falcon.
A game of that magnitude would also probably need some new objectives to work with such large forces. Another thing is at worlds this year you can win a beautiful battle of endor playmat. So I have been thinking...
Wave 3 or a Battle of Endor deluxe expansion with some side releases:
A fighter pack with Lando on the falcon and some other pilots in the battle like Arvel Crynyd, Ten Numb and Horton Salm. We already got Wedge.
A (x-wing raider) sized executor model as the first epic sized ship with Admiral Piett as a commander.
A new set of objectives to use in "epic" play that will be around 1200pts.
Then to top it off FFG release the Endor playmat for x-wing and armada.
What to you guys think?
Is this possible or do I set my hopes way to high?
Battle of endor wave 3 speculations
I doudt it, because:
1) I don't think we will an ssd
2) episode VII
3) they would be stupid to not do episode VII
But your ideas are cool don't get me wrong, I can't wait to do an epic 3v3 endor game ![]()

Reading a bit too much into things, and also, a lot of it isn't my cup of tea.
I *would* like an official 6x3 Playmat, yes. Endor or not. The only one they've shown so far is 3x3.
If they were doing alternates, then you'd be looking at an Aces pack of Titles and Squadron Cards... It could work, if they'd be willing to do it without plastic models - otherwise they're superfelous somewhat.
No need for an Executor that big just yet. Maybe when everything else is boring, you can rattle the foundation of the game... But for now, I like the fact that we've got fleet based action, rather than going Supership... There was a place for it in X-Wing, yes... But I don't see it here.
The Buy in to 1200 points is far too extreme - at least with X-Wing, going to Epic Play was only $100 essentially. Tripling your fleet size for Armada, I doubt it... More Objectives, yes.
^^^^ Agreed, I'd like to see more objectives added....maybe the Reb transport in some capacity... ![]()

Episode VI is highly popular... There's no reason not to have Wave II be endor and Wave IV be Episode VII Related, or have it release with VIII and do Wave III with both VII and VIII
I would like to see an official campaign. would be cool to be able to play through a story with friends.
Not sure what they'd release for a Battle of Endor Wave III, as the only ships seen in the battle not already out would be the SSD Executor, and the Medium transport. Not much of a wave, even if the SSD cost all of the money.
I would love an aces pack though, or maybe a non-character named squadron, like have a Rouge Squadron for X-Wing, Tierfon Yellow Aces for Y-Wing, and 181st Starfighter Group for TIE/In (group, not squadron, but it works), etc. Shoot, in all the established EU and canon, they could come up with a couple squadrons for each, and give them each different abilities. Leave off the defense tokens from the named characters, but still have them be slightly more expensive than their standard squadron counterparts.
Edited by Alpha17I for one am disapointed that we wont be getting the MC80 Liberty (winged or wingless, but personally I want the wings!) until at least wave 4!

Liberty type MC80, SSD, and GR75 are the only ships from Jedi that we don't have yet.

When did they say this!?! Bummer! That's my favorite rebel ship in EAW.

Jogging some elbows got me some ambiguous and vague answers a few weeks back around September the 4th, but adding 2 and 2 together means that some old trilogy sets are taking a brief backseat burner to some potential Force Awakens stuff.
However I would be thrilled to be wrong, but it doesn't seem like it. :/
This should be taken with a grain of salt though, none of this is confirmed or official, just open ended "answers" to some yes or no questions from somebody a friend of a friend might know...
That is a bummer, I like the Liberty type way better than the home one type mc80 any day.

Same! Its soooooo cool I love the design, and I even own 2 models of the MC80 winged varient! One in Battlefleet gothic scale, another in a scale too big for armada :/
I even have stats all plotted out for it, and was hoping for a "compairing notes" to see how I did in a few months. I missed quite a bit with the MC30, they made it a tad tougher and stronger than I thought. Was pretty spot on for the ISD 1 and 2 though, except for the upgrade bar. Had 2 crew and 2 team slots depending on varient, not the dual offensive slot.
MC80 (winged) Liberty as the rebel cap ship with a strong forward firing arc
GR-75 as a non-combatant force multiplier, maybe a two pack with extra missions
Interdictor as an Imperial force-multiplier, area denial vessel
Acclamator as a cheap, multi-role screen
They still need to have the Braha'tok-class Gunship. It appeared in Return of the Jedi but only briefly.
Looks pretty ugly but it's OT canon and it has the improvised, ramshackle look of the Rebel fleet.

This hits the nail on the head for my biggest hope for W3 -- something new mechanically that adds to the game's already impressive depth. We kind of already have have some support ships through Tantive IV/Redemption/Leia, but those feel more like a splash of support on combat-focused ships than actually dedicated support.

Not sure about the Acclamator since its Prequel yet I am hoping for the Arquitens since it is in Rebels.
I want to see the interdictor as an imperial vessel that means you can choose to end the game on turn 5,6 or 7 at the beginning of that turn.
I want to see something that allows the rebels a similar advantage, but in a different way. Kamikaze freighters would be good.
A couple of ships that are usable by both Imperials or rebels, such as dreadnoughts would be cool, but as visually distinct as the 2 sides have been kept so far I think this won't happen.
I also want to see stormtrooper transports and boarding action style attacks, as a potential counter to ship-only dominance.
I would love to see the winged MC80 love that ship design,
I would also love to see some cheaper card pack that have more Aces for squads and some other upgrades for ships,
You cannot consider a proper battle of Endor without two very important things:
The Super Star Destroyer
The Superlaser
I have given thought to both for my own thoughts on a Battle of Endor, but I won't seriously consider making anything until at least Wave 2 is released.
I'd much prefer Jedi or any OT era stuff Interdictor, Winged mon-cal, but it's pretty likely it will be some EVII stuff unfortunately.
It could be a mix of Episode VII and OT era stuff. We have no proof the Episode VII will have enough capital ships for a full wave after all and traditionally in Star Wars movie trilogies its the second or third movie before they have new enough capital ships to fill an Armada wave.

I use the deathstar playmat. on the third round and the sixth round the imperial player can destroy 1 ship. of course when we do we play 400pt rebels vs 300 pt imperials.

The DS is easy, poster on the wall and a laser pointer.
SSD, little trickier, would need to paint a gym floor black and replaced the rulers and movment tools with tape measures.
