Just noticed something about Wired...

By Stone37, in X-Wing

So today for the first time I took a good hard look at the T-70 and TIE/fo expansions. I have been looking forward to running a few Omega with Wired ever sense I bought the new Core. Figured I'd pick up 1 or 2 each of these new ships to add to what came with the core set....

Wait! Where the heck is Wired!?!? Why do neither of these expansions come with Wired!?!? SERIOUSLY?!?!??!

Next, I'll find out that BB-8 is also included in the T-70 expansion just to add to the uselessness...

Thank you for reading my rant. Feel free to vent with me here.

Did you see R2-D2 in the single X-Wing expansion.....no. So you won't see BB-8 with the single T-70. All the cards for the 2 single expansions are shown in their preview.

T-70 has APT, Integrated Astromech, Weapons Guidance, Target Astromech?, and Cool Hand

TIE/fo has Comm Relay and Juke

I think there will be a ship in wave 9 that will come with Wired......cough TIE/sf.

It could always be a mistake...and by the time they are released it could be different.

I think Wired might be the first TFA upgrade card to hit the tournament kits.

Yeah, it'll be just like engine upgrade and stealth device were when we needed more of those.

I guess there is a first time for everything.

BB-8 isn't included:

The squad examples in the article just use some core cards.

BB-8 is unique, why would you need more than 1?

You don't. That's why he's only in the new core set. :)

but wired isn't unique and it can be used on multiple ships however it is not showing up in anything else other than the core set also you only get one of it when you could easily use 2. The episode VI core set is not that friendly to imperial players. -_-

I haven't been paying close attention to every initial release article over the last year, but when Bossk was initially revealed through the official article, there was a misprinted hull amount initially listed. While highly unlikely, I could see it as possible.

Unfortunately, those that want more than one (like for their 4x GSP PTL squad), will have to get a ton of core sets. Personally I am just going to be patient on this one and hope it is released elsewhere.

No... it is not.

Wired makes the new FO a blast to fly. You are not scared to keep using those red maneuvers because of the re-rolls. Not sure why the Core did not come with two of both Wired and Guidance....

Guidance is very much more for the T-70 - comms relay is the Tech Upgrade clearly made with the TIE/f0 in mind.

Bear in mind that the original starter set only has one copy of determination - but it was included in the TIE fighter expansion.

Juke is a very good pilot talent - and pairs superbly with the comms relay - but it is kind of odd that it's made wired a core set only card, when it's clearly a card that finds a lot of mileage taken 3+ times in a list, filling the EPT slots on generic pilots with 'spare' EPT slots.

Well, consider Wired to be a kind of a 'rare' card.

If you wand to fly 5 Ties with Wired - buy 5 core sets.

If you want to have your 5 X-Wings fixed - buy 5 T-70 X-Wings.

Face the facts.

It has the taste of 'Pay to win' ... I give you that.

This is pretty annoying. They could easily have put another copy in the TIE FO expansion, since it comes with only a measly two upgrade cards (yes I am aware there are more pilot cards than normal and that it's comparable to the TIE Fighter expansion... but still!). Same with Integrated Astromech. Upgrades seem a bit stingey in the TFA releases. Hopefully future releases will have some crossover in terms of upgrades so that we can all have the upgrades we want without buying ships we don't want.

Well, maybe FFG is getting a bit greedy lately... so to say.

There should be multiple 'fixing' cards in a box, like the MKII Engine that comes with the Punisher.

If you regard those cards to be the fix for Defenders ...

And once you got your 4 T-70 X-Wings to fix your old ones ... why you want to play with the old ones if you now got 4 T-70?

Its ... yeah ... I don't like this new direction.

Its ... "Lets include less key cards per box to increase sales" ... jumps right into your face, isn't it?

so it looks like i will have to buy a couple more core sets when "target" markes them down to 11 bucks.. but that probbally wont happen tell after the movie.. bummer... wired is a nice cheap up grade!

So to recap.... My feelings upon realizing how much it would cost me to run 5 TIE/FOs with Wired:

i-sense-a-great-disturbance-in-the-force

so it looks like i will have to buy a couple more core sets when "target" markes them down to 11 bucks.. but that probbally wont happen tell after the movie.. bummer... wired is a nice cheap up grade!

Or if you're in the UK, you'd be buying them at around £25 minimum. That's $38. Minimum. :(

Or if you're in Aus / SA, ~$60.

Or just organize your own effing tournament, and allow printed squad lists, with only dials, tokens, templates and models necessary.

That or try to make convincing copies.

Not really. The 2012 starter included five upgrade cards, and the 2012 TIE Fighter expansion included two upgrade cards, exactly like their 2015 equivalents. There's no new direction here.

Integrated Astromech will likely see much less use on T-70s than it will on T-65s, since on the newer X-Wings the slot is contested by Autothrusters. Unless I really needed those two points elsewhere I'd probably go for the latter.

Let us also imagine that an aces pack is coming out likely that includes an x-wing from both era or new ties. The new expansions also have the benefit of having all the other upgrades that came previous, unlike the original relaases.

I think Wired might be the first TFA upgrade card to hit the tournament kits.

I hope this is the case, because I would really like two copies of Wired without having to buy two core sets.
