We've played through the Core Set campaign once and played through all the skirmish missions a couple times.

Skirmish with Core and Wave 1 seemed fairly well-designed and balance.

But now with Wave 2 +Twin Shadows on us, followed closely by Wave 3, Wave 4 and then Wave 5 with another box, there's certainly a feeling of a lot of stuff.

I've posted this similar sentiment with X-Wing. But Imperial Assault, unlike X-Wing, allows cross-faction. Plus the majority of command cards applies to pretty much everyone.

For Imperial Assault, does anyone else feel overwhelmed or an impending overwhelming? Is Skirmish going to be balanced? Is the meta going to shift every 2 months with each Wave?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. IA is one-of-a-kind when it comes to skirmish and the addition of more figure packs can only be a blessing.

With not even one year experience, it looks like there will be 4 waves per year: Q1 just Figure Packs, Q2 Small Box+Figure Packs, Q3 just Figure Packs, Q4 Big Box+Figure Packs (shortly before Christmas).

The meta will shift a lot with every release, but that's because the game is less than a year old.

Next year it'll be the big expansions that shake things up.

I personally am happy that there are more figures coming rapidly. This will only make the game more exciting and interesting meta wise. I love having options. I'm not worried about just diving and trying something I like to see how it works.

The one mistake they've made (4x4) they found a smooth way to fix (pass rule). I think they are going to be real careful to not break their own game. Varity can only be good.

I wanna see some skirmish upgrades. Let me beef up Boba Fett!

Maybe it's cos I'm coming from X-Wing which has probably passed the £1,000 mark by now, but IA doesn't seem too bad to me! At least a lot of the expansions are unique so you'll only want one.
