Superior positions + redirect.

By rapatpamp, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Sorry if this has been covered but if I hit a ship in the rear ark and they redirect it to a side do I get a point token for Superior Positions or does the damage need to be on the rear?

Thanks.

The attack does not get redirected, just the damage so you are still attacking the rear hull

To expand on what Lyraeus said.

The qualifier on the objective card is

After a ship or squadron performs an attack against the rear hull zone of another ship, if the defender suffered at least 1 damage, the attacker's owner gains 1 victory token.

Getting a token is not dependent on where the damage is dealt. All that matters is that you attacked the rear, and damage (either shields or hull) was dealt. You are not required to force damage cards to be dealt. A single damage to the shields also suffices.

Good tyvm guys :)

For the sake of completeness, it goes without saying (except, of course, it doesn't - because I'm about to say it) that an attack on a side arc whose damage gets redirected to the rear shields also does not trigger the Objective. It's pretty obvious stuff, especially given the above answers, but we've had weirder questions so better to be safe :)
