It seems that the only way to avoid being insulted these days is to play nothing except generic HWKs, Bombers and Scyks.
I'll have you know that those ships are the most overpowered, broken hunks of scrap I have ever seen! ... Just kidding!
We both jest, but a bunch of Bombers with Seismic Charges and Extra Munitions cleaned up a (small) tournament a friend of mine attended. Their first round was especially brutal; the poor opponent had brought a TIE Swarm and only managed one kill - and even that was due to friendly fire helping him!

The high-risk, high-reward playstyle of bombers fascinates me. Once I'm able to pick one up (college life, yaaaaay), I'm going to play around with builds for them just to see my options.
In regards to Vader Tots, I have a Darth Tater in storage somewhere that we could fry. Plastic is edible, right?

Was it 5 Scimitars and 10 Seismics (with EM, of course)?
I've always imagined that in a joust you would set it up so that you flew at the enemy with a 5K-turn, and then next turn you dropped the bombs and skedaddled. It seems so hilarious but not at all possible against fat turrets. Maybe Y-Wings will be easier to catch. Last time I flew bombs or just Bombers in general my opponent had 2 2400's and was just immune to my bombs. I think I ended up winning because my opponent had his Outrider use an Ion Cannon and I eventually killed them off with primaries but it felt like I was losing the entire match. Large ship barrel roll guarantees getting out of range of a bomb.
****, if you manage to dump 3 bombs on a wad of TIE Advanced that's huge. Enough to just mop up with your primary weapons.
Hey, I hear there's this awesome game where you get to 'fly' the cool starfighters from STAR WARS around a board and blow them up, kinda like the old 90's PC games! Excellent! And it sounds like it's pretty popular too. That is until people stopped playing it and just started posting stuff on this one forum. It's a shame, too. If they had a world championship tournament where you can get a cool DSII playmat I'm sure lots of players would want to go, but I think it's all going to get shut down cause no one will show up. Too much negative Internet mojo they say. It's really harshing the buzz of the game.
Oh well at least MTG still has a place at my LGS.

I think so. Like I said, a friend of mine attended this one, not me, so I'm working off second-hand info.
I will say that I played against a similar list a long time ago while playing Han/Jake/Proto, and the strategy that guy used was to throw everything at Han and use the bombs as deterrent to keep the A-wings from pursuing effectively. Chewing through 30 hp across five different attackers while your escort can only attack every other round is a bit of a tall order*. I would imagine this player would have used a similar strategy against any turret+escort lists. No idea how he would have approached dual turret, though.
* For the record, I did eventually win that one (it's still my one and only timed tournament win), but only just. 40-something to 15, with Han limping away at 3 health. It was the game that convinced me some sort of partial points was necessary.

I've never heard of the game you describe. Maybe you're thinking of the Star Trek miniatures game by Wizkids?
Well said!
Hey, I played the Jonus Brothers list at this year's Store Championship at my local store. It was a little smaller than usual, but I was the only player to go undefeated into the finals. It was 3 generic Tie Phantoms (pre nerf) that creamed me. This was all before Extra Munitions, too! One of the locals that wins most tournaments is now scared of Tie Bombers!
Tie Bombers are a very fun list to play and are good against most things. I haven't had a lot of practice vs. Soontir Fel or Phantoms. Bro Bots can be hard as their high agility can just work for them sometimes. If people start taking Sensor Jammer more often, it will really hurt ships with Ordnance. You often don't get the Focus and that usually takes away a hit.
I need to break out the 4 Tie Bomber list again, but this time drop Jonus to upgrade all Scimitars with Homing Missiles and EM. It's better that way.

Make them all Gammas and you have a TLTs nightmare there! TIE Bombers are really a lot of fun. I made someone say they were OP with the 4 Scimitars/Proxy Mine + Doomshuttle list.
I agree to what rodafawa said!
"You can't expect to be taken seriously when you call for civility and respecting each other's opinions out of one side of your mouth while describing other people's conduct as "whining", "crying" and "pathetic" out of the other side.
You want the forum to have a more positive tone? Then be the change you want to see in the world. Don't just wag your finger at people who're being impolite in a slightly different manner to the way you're comfortable being impolite. Your "just trying to push an agenda" is other people's "impassioned debate", after all."
It was talk like a pirate day ... yesterday, two days ago?
So near enough and still legit.
I LOVE This... even have it in a Star Wars playlist for...

@caine what if they are whining? I mean there are people who openly admit they whine about stuff on here.
@caine what if they are whining? I mean there are people who openly admit they whine about stuff on here.
- If they whine
- if they say themselves they whine
-and if you are annoyed by "whine-threads"
=> Read the topic and simply stay out of it! Ignore it and answer to topics you want to talk about.
Do you seriously think it will stop them posting if you actualy say they are whining after they said they are whining?
Now if those things arent given. Maybe the rest of the ppl actually want to discuss something that sounds to you as "whining" because oyu talked too much about it already.
=> Ignore it instead of telling them that they are whining. Because claiming that might be offensive to them, it doesnt add anything to the topic and it wont prevent them posting it. It also wont prevent others whinging about the same topic because those threads tend to be more about "whining" or not whining then about the actual topic.
In short: Telling someone that hes/she is "whining" wont get you anywere else then getting a meta-discussion. It's also not in any way morally better then posting a thread simply to complain.
I know thats not how it usually works in a forum, it would still be the best to simply stay out of it.
Edited by CaineHoAThe OP took it easy in his choice of words. I could have come up with much worse when referring to some of the people on this board. I completely agree with the OP, and thank him for saying something. Not surprisingly, he was met with more negative feedback. And I've been on the internet once or twice. A lot of message boards. Even ones for other games of FFG. And this is one of the worst. Ever. So I second the words of the original post. Stop whining and start playing.
You realize that his "statement" was just negative feedback as well? I don't see your logic.
His statement was nothing close to negative feedback. It was a reality check to the immature behavior on these boards.

negative feedback =/= false feedback

I figured there was a Christopher Hitchens quote that would fit here.
You want immature? At least I don't smear ice cream on my face like a child. ![]()
If he had stopped in the middle of his statement i wouldve agreed. The rest is doing exactly what he blamed others doing.
What I'm going to do today is go play my game. Thank you OP. May the force be with you!

Good ole Hitch... I have dozens of his videos on a playlist.

From now on I am simply going to be as fun and friendly as I can be, and share cool ideas and pictures, and just block negative people who are not here for that kind of fun in our community.
But... you were part of the reason I started trying to be more positive. If you're just now starting... but I'm doing it because you were doing it... then you weren't doing it before... and Istanbul is somewhere in this general area... my life is a lie!
Seriously, though, this forum is a lot more fun and a lot less stressful if you approach it from a fun, Fly Casual angle. Let's cut back on the finger-pointing and name-calling, and instead help each other get better at the game and enjoy it more!
I second this ![]()
Am I the only one who hasn't been offended?
Perhaps I've missed the offending topics but nothing I've read has bothered me.
The only real issue I've had is with being shamed on the rules board for simply asking a question, like 4@#&, that is what its there for right?
Perhaps it is because I choose not to engage in a lot of the other banter. I've definitely seen how others have been getting the rough end of the pineapple though.

That happens?! Rough. I guess i don't miss much when I don't visit that subforum...
Griping is what forums are for. I don't know what y'all are on. Some of the gripes I see are dumb but I don't complain about there being griping.
