I recently made a list for the Imperials and encouraged them to use it. I certainly wasn't going to use it. Making a REALLY bad fleet is actually harder than I thought. Share with me your worst possible rebel list:

You must use at least 290 points out of 300.

Where's Yavaris?!

Here I was going to go 10xY-Wings (100), Garm Bel Iblis (25), and 3x Neb B Support Frigates with Nav Teams and Veteran Captains.

That way you can never have enough command to boss around your squadrons, and Garm does nothing to enhance your defense or give you much in the way of tokens. Maybe MM would be worse if you drop the VCs, though?

Either way, I think the real trick is "how do you build the worst list that doesn't deliberately take stuff you can't use"?

How would you use that list against 2xAFIIB, 2xCR90A, where you have less red dice with the Neb B's than your opponent has, so hanging back at long range with the Y-wings as a wall in front of you means you lose the firepower battle?

Corvettes and AFMKIIs have to go somewhere. If they hold still, or move slow, they get Y-Winged. If they're moving at speed, you just have to plan where they can go, and reposition part of the Fighter Wall to intercept.

The Curious part about Armada is we have this relatively massive play space, where you can maneouver almost anywhere... But your maximum range of shooting is 12". So they will need to be planning on either getting close to you, in which case, they're moving and speed for a flyby - and you'll get 1-2 rounds of shooting on them as they plough into the wall - or its going to come down to one set of long range potshots, in which case, you concentrate on the 1 AFMKII to try to down it, for the cost of a Neb-B, and win the battle on Technicalities of points....

All very mission dependant, of course.

It wouldn't be my preferred list of course. But its one I'd certainly consider playing... And against Imperials, its hardly a "terrible list", when you're going to be gunning on par to a Victory at Long Range with each Nebulon... You're only behind that Damage Curve if they have Gunnery Teams (which, often they will), but the Y-Wings more than make up for where those Imperial Slugs are going.

If you are trying to make a "worst" fleet...10 Y Wings is definatly NOT the way to start off.

Ok, thats pretty bad.

I just noticed there is a minimum points limit of 290. It looks like my 'guaranteed player 1' fleet is ineligible for this exercise.

But I can still take it to Worlds!

I anticipated the cr90b and initiative bid. Hard to get worse than that. So I took 290 as some arbitrary number to give some room for more interesting dreck.

Well look at that, some how I managed to actually go over budget when making my spindly 3 neb list. An Xwing was required to avoid falling into the trap of having to take Mon Mothma or Salvation, which are far too sane choices for this list
