SCUM B-WING Equivalent?

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

I was thinking of something crazy like this build.

It looks like you know exactly what you want.

TIE Defender? It's pretty tanky. And expensive...

6 health is NOT tanky.

6 health behind 3 agility. If only it had evade it'd be a complete pain to kill.

Yeah kinda but some cool ideas from me Scummy Star Brothers to make it not be just a crazy looking B-Wing... that is still be to decided. Of course it can Barrel Roll and it will be well armed and armored... but what else. New crazy Scum-Astros as a crew? New Illicits for heavy ships that are going to be kinda slow? A SCUM special move? Some crazy optics that work great but might fail to work at range three, an Emon'ish bomb skill?... and so forth.

Dunno... HELPS!

Instead of alternatively painted reprints of existing ships, I think our only hope of getting more cross-faction ships would be something like a release of scum aces but includes dials, cards, and bases for other ships a la most wanted. I don't think many people would want to buy ships they already had (especially large based ships) when they could just get the stuff to scumify them for a lower price. Obviously the repaints in the aces will be of ships that are already scummy.

I think I'm in a different camp from most people. I appreciated Most Wanted. The Firespray was a must. Z-95s were thematic. Y-wings made sense and allowed people to use an existing ship. The HWK-290 threw me for a loop, but it was okay.

But from here on out, I really don't want to see any more cross-faction ships. I get that they exist in-universe, but I'd prefer different ships for each faction. I feel like the repeat ones were a result of trying to get Scum & Villainy caught up. Now that it's a viable faction with lots of options, I hope they don't do any other cross-faction ships.

That Most Wanted is one of the best sets FFG has produced... for sure!

:)

Witness!

What would a SCUM B-WING be, in EU or otherwise?

I have my ideas on how to build the models but I was wondering what some of my peeps here might have to say about it.

S&V still lacks a hard-hitting Small Ship in my view...

:)

The Rihkxyrk. It was super expensive, super well armed and armored. It slow and has bad maneuverability. That being said it didn't suffer high loses, in fact it had a high survival right, unlike other ships with bad maneuverability.

The G-1A Starfighter:

swx41_spread.png

3 Attack, 1 Agility, 8 HP, crap dial (Note the red bank 3), and it's out next wave.

We done here? :P

Mechanically it acts the same as a B-wing being a 3 attack ship 1 agility 8 SHPs so it will fill almost the same role. But I don't think it would be a furbal loving brawler much like Adv sensor B-wing would be. The B-wing doesn't have a crap dial as much more of a slow dial. Sure quite cumbersome with 6 red maneuvers but the 1 hard turn and 2 K makes it so that it can do some pretty tight maneuvers. They are like the Dwarfs of X-wing, slow moving, often attacks last, but hard hitting and tough to break.

Always wondered why FFG took the way Scum has been released the way they did. Obviously from a sales perspective they wanted new ships for customers to buy and collect but the very nature of the Scum faction is to steal and repurpuse equipment. We saw the Firespray, the Y wing and the Z 95 repurposed this way but why did they stop with that? I mean what pirate group would not want to utilize a Decimator or a B wing. Hijacking and outright theft is their modus operandi after all.

In canon there are pirates groups using B-Wings during the OT era so why not Scum B-Wings?

But guys, what about the bounty hunter who's ship is literally two b-wings duct taped together at the cockpit?

May I suggest the Accuracy Corrector Tempest Squadron as the Imperial B-Wing? Surely 5 health behind 3 agility and an evade token most of the time has comparable survivability in most situations to 8 health behind 1 agility, right?

Or Punishers with AC if you feel that your "imperial b-wing" NEEDS to have low agility.

I love Most Wanted, not just for what it brings, but also the format. I'd love a similar box with (say) the Defender and Bomber, but with cardboard, pilots, and titles for Imperal Large ships like the Lambda and Decimator.

Or heck! An X-Wing E-Wing pack with cardboard and pilots for the Rebel Large ship. And maybe even a title or mod that would apply to "YT Only". And if they wanted to create new pilots for the Rebel Z-95 or Y-Wing, that would be a great place to do it.

In canon there are pirates groups using B-Wings during the OT era so why not Scum B-Wings?

Because giving Scum Rebel repaints instead of their own ships is lazy and dumb.
