Hey guys is there a way to add Hardpoints to weapons and armor either through talents or skill rolls? I know there is a talent in Force in Destiny but are there any other ways?

The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Bounty Hunter: Gadgateer.
Until the Technician splat book comes out, those are the only two official methods that I know of.
And both of those methods use the same Talent, they just find it in different specialization trees.
There’s nothing stopping you from inventing your own system, but I’d be very wary of doing something that could seriously imbalance the game, and/or which might be completely obviated by the Technician splat book.
So long as it’s not an automatic “HELL YEAH, THAT’S AUTOWIN!!!” then I would suspect that you might be okay.
BradKnowles is right. Unless you are a Force user, the only way is through the Tinkerer talent located in the Gadgeteer, Outlaw Tech, and Scientist talent trees.

Is the technician Splat book Scheduled? I keep seeing it mentioned but don't see any info on it

So far as I know, there is no schedule for it.
Everybody keeps talking about it because everybody wants to see it, and yet we’re still waiting.
Add me to the list as I have a Droid Player who REALLY would like so rules about Upgrading..
Right now I am being bugged about telling her what it would cost to have her droid brain lock protected from wiping or some secure back up memory to restore her memory if wiped.
Patience, books are in development.

I am not qualified to Have any Patience :-P
No medical back ground to speak of :-)
We also talk about the book because we know it is going to happen along with the bounty hunter book because all the other careers got one. So far we have and have been proven right that careers will each get a book. We get a beginner game core rule book and gm screen for each line. we also get a number of region books for each line and adventures. What happens when they finish the 6 career books we do not know.

Most likely they'll just scale down on the publishing and go with region books and adventures with longer times between releases, until finally shutting down the releases at some point in time.
OR, they might give out one or two new careers, but I doubt that.
well they can release books to all other classes in the other sister-systems, AoR(ace, diplomat) and FaD(jedi-knight, jedi-telepath, jedi-dancer). Then there could be some books around regions: "the Core" "the rim of the rim. And some books about special Star Wras in game stuff, "The big Vehicle book " "the big species book - with religions, castes, and how they are treated from the empire"" and FINALY "the twi'lek dancer book - in color"
Malicious gossip has it that FFG would reuse some of those things they've published already in other books, and put it in collections like the vehicle book. But those rumors are just Science Fiction.
"the twi'lek dancer book - in color"
That's a must-buy!

The D20 series had things like a hidden brain that would automatically restore the droids programming if wiped/altered. There were also rules for restoring a backup - including to a new chassis model. (My ship automation controller droid once ended up in a Vulture drone because that was what was available.)
Back on topic.
My ruling has been so far: No, you can't increase the number of Hardpoints. A Hardpoint is something like a socket, built into the original gear, to click any Attachment on without much fuss. But, yes you can install further upgrades that would normally use up a Hardpoint. You just have to redesign and tinker a little (or more), doing a check and possibly screwing up or worse. And of course: Loss of warranty!
Edited by GrimmerlingDo Talents like Tinkerer only effect equipment owned AND used by the character with the Talent? Can they increase another character's gear HP by 'donating' a rank of Tinkerer to that piece of equipment? The same question with Jury Rigged (I think the Talent is called, away from books)?
Or is it just the case of anyone who wants super-modded gear needs to buy into the relevant Specializations to get those Talents themselves? As I'm pretty sure one of the Talents specifically states 'owned equipment'.
Edited by MDR101Jury Rigged only applies while the character with the talent uses the item. Tinkerer is potentially able to be used to benefit others.

Cheers for the clarification, HappyDaze!
There is also instinctive something in the artisan tree.
