The most expensive list in the game.

By SamTheJ, in X-Wing

So, I was trying to help a friend put together a 4 TLT list economically and realized you have to be very careful or it gets very expensive very fast. A basic 4 y or 4 hwk rebel list is pricey but not un reasonable. $100 for four ships and the 2 k wings to get the TLT. What gets crazy is the scum version. Two y wings and two hwks require 2 most wanted expansions, 2 hwk expansions and 2 k-wings for a total of 150 dollars. 4 scum Y-wings would need 2 k-wings and 4 most wanted kits for a total of 200 dollars. And while there is literally no reason to do it instead of the rebel version, 4 scum HWKs with TLTs needs 4 Hwk expansions, 2 k-wings and 4 most wanted kits at a grand total of 260 dollars!

Remember when people complained about having to spend money on a CR-90 for c-3po? A standard fat Han list only cost $175 even with that. The old 8 TIE swarm only cost 160 dollars.

So tell me, is this the most expensive meta list ever? Does anything else come close? Does anyone else care?

4xTLT for scum is 2 most wanted kits ($80), 2 Y-wings ($30), and 2 K's ($40) for $150

Just spitballing, 2 Iggys ($60) w/Sensor Jammers (only on Shuttles, $60) + Veteran Instincts (2 Falcons/Firesprays, $60). Which is just a start. I'm sure you make and Iggy squad for over $200.

Heaver's Fat Han comes to $180 ($90 Corvette+$30 Falcon+$45 in Z-95s+Predator from a Kihraxz or Tie Defender). Classic Fat Han is $210 because you need a copy of Gunner from the YT-2400 or Slave 1 expansions.

The 8 Tie Swarm is $120, not 180, and it was only $90 prior to the release of the new core set, since everyone had 2 Tie Fighters unless they bought individual components (Or sold said Tie/lns).

$200 for that and a Starviper for Autothrusters. You might need more if you want Glitterstim or some kind of fancy bomb, but that means cutting one of the HLCs.

As far as cheapest tourney list, I think that'd be BBBBZ, at $75+core set.

In general, though, the game is pretty clearly designed for people to build at least moderately sized collections so they can run at least three-four lists.

Do you mean competitive list or a list just for high dollar amount?

5 scum hwks with the rarer crew. Something like this.

3 most wanted

5 hwk

1 slave 1

1 z95

1 hounds tooth

1 Zuckuss ship

1 phantom

1 k wing

1 yt-2400

1 imperial aces

....I think. Not sure about one or two upgrades and exclusivity. I'm pretty sure that's over $300.

I was going to suggest a x4 Tie Advanced list, but thankfully they included x4 X-1 upgrades in the Raider, so you will only need one of them.

I can't remember what the maths came out at, but last time the most expensive possible squad was discussed this little lot won out:

Arvel Crynyd (23)

Chardaan Refit (-2)

Draw Their Fire (1)

Autothrusters (2)

A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Rebel Operative (16)

Dash Rendar (2)

Gray Squadron Pilot (20)

Bomb Loadout (0)

R2-D6 (1)

Proximity Mines (3)

Intimidation (2)

Munitions Failsafe (1)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

Sensor Jammer (4)

Flechette Cannon (2)

Han Solo (2)

B-Wing/E2 (1)

Total: 100

I'm pretty sure that with the advent of the Raider there will be a new king however.

You could load a decimator out with a lot of cost.

$100- Imperial Raider

$45- 3 more Tie Advanced

$80- 4 Starvipers (Alternatively, $100 for two Starvipers and 2 IG-2000 expansions, which feels more practical from a collecting perspective)

$225 for the 4x Accuracy Corrector, 4x Cluster Missiles Version. The 4x Twin Ion Engine Mk. 2, 4x Proton Rockets version adds another $100 for two copies of both the Tie Punisher and Rebel Aces, which actually puts it in the highly expensive category.

4xTLT for scum is 2 most wanted kits ($80), 2 Y-wings ($30), and 2 K's ($40) for $150

Your absolutely right. I forgot that most wanted comes with two thugs.

<snip>

Does anyone else care?

Not me.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned it:

7x Binayre Pirate 7x Feedback array

4 Most Wanted packs, 4 IG-2000 packs $280 MSRP. I think it's one of the most expensive competitive lists.

-I was going with the old strategy of buying core sets for ties, but you are right it isn't necessary.

I was thinking about the dollar amount for competitive lists.

Good one. I've seen this one in action and it is very scary.

Here's the best I could come up with for the Empire, using some upcoming content.

Turr Phennir (TIE Interceptor, $15)
- Royal Guard TIE (Imperial Aces, $30)
- Ruthlessness (Decimator, $40)
- Autothrusters (StarViper, $20)
- Twin Ion Mk 2 (Punisher, $20)
Maarek Stele (Advanced, $15)
- TIE/x1 (Raider, $100)
- Sensor Jammer (Lambda, $30)
- S-Thread Tracers (Iquisitor, $15)
- Wired (Core II, $40)
- Engine Upgarde (Falcon, $30)
Echo (Phantom, $15)
- Agent Callus (Gozanti, $70)
- Lone Wolf (Outrider, $30)
- Stigium Particle Accelorator (-)
TOTAL: $470
EDIT: If going for a meta-competative list, then here's one.
Kenkirk (Decimator, $40)
- Palpatine (Raider, $100)
- Rebel Captive (Shuttle, $30)
- Engine Upgrade (Falcon, $30)
- Predator (Defender, $15)
- Proximity Mine (Firespray, $30)
Soontir Fel (Interceptor, $15)
- Royal Guard TIE (Imperial Aces, $30)
- Autothrusters (StarViper, $20)
- Stealth Device (Firespray, -)
- Push The Limit (-)
TOTAL: $310

6 x Black Squad Pilots with Wired and TIE Mk. II.

That's 6 TIE Fighters, 3 Punishers, and 6 of the new core sets you'd need to buy. Switch intimidation out for Wired if Decimators are more expensive than core sets.

7x Binayre Pirate 7x Feedback array

I have 3 Most Wanted packs. I made sure to trade for Feedback Arrays ASAP and I traded a rebel Z for a Scum one.

You can kind of ebay things in order to avoid having to buy 4 of a ship just to get the accuracy correctors out of it.

The fastest way to get expensive is to stack a bunch of 1 point EPT's that come as one ofs in monetarily expensive ships. You only get one Draw Their Fire in each Falcon, and (so far) you only get one Wired in each new core set.

4x Green Squadron Pilot

4x A-Wing Test Pilot

4X Chardaan Refit

3x Draw Their Fire

4x Wired

1x Autothrusters

1x HWK-290

1x C-3PO

1x Autoblaster turret

100 points

So that's:

2 Rebel Aces for enough refit cards

2 Standalone A-Wing ships

3 Millennium Falcons

4 New Core Sets

A Starviper for Autothrusters

A HWK-290

A Most Wanted set for the Autoblaster Turret

A Corvette for C-3PO

That's $515 MSRP not counting sales tax. I win. And if you want all of your A-Wings blue then that's another $60.

If you're okay with adding redundant upgrades you can substitute the Autothrusters for a targeting Computer from the Imperial Aces set and pay $10 more.

5x Green Squadron A-wings with Title, VI, Wired and Refit. Give two of them Autothrusters.

3x Rebel Aces

2x A-wing

5x Millennium Falcon (or Slave 1)

5x New Core Set

1x Starviper

Only $490!

Edit- Ninja'd by more expensive list :(

Originally my idea was just that. Then I realized that I could make one of the A-Wings a ship with a cheap crew slot to fit C-3PO in. I was a point short of Autoblaster Turret so I had to ditch a Falcon from the build in order to get a Most Wanted set that's $10 more expensiver than the Falcon in.

My original post send to have gone from observation to abject horror when I realized how many of these lists I I've flown and paid for. Good responses!

Abandoning any attempt to make a competitive or even coherent list yields the following:

4x Spice Runner (16) with Mercenary Copilot(2), Inertial Dampener(1), and Munition Failsafe(1)

1x Spice Runner (16) with Bossk(2), Inertial Dampener(1), and Munition Failsafe(1)

5x HWKs

5x Most Wanted

5x Starviper

5x Z-95

4x Slave-1

1x Hounds Tooth

Easily one of the worst lists you can make may also be the most expensive at $610

Hi,

Just for information the Fab's squadrons generator has a feature to know the price of build.

http://x-wing.fabpsb.net/gindex.php

Once you have generate/build your squadrons, just click on the MATH feature, to know the expansion needed, you can check a box to know the card repartition through the expansion and you have a list to choose the currency.

It should help you to answer the question about the price of the builds.

Bye

Fab
