TIE/fo All-Stars

By Magnus Grendel, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So.... I've put in a lot of time ove the last year with the TIE Fighter All-Stars (aka the Sinister Six). But are the next generation up to replacing them?

You get less ships. Kitted out, only four TIE/fo fighters fit into 100 points. Fortunate, then, that only four have so far been spoiled.

Zeta Ace - comms relay, push the limit, twin ion engine MkII

Omega Leader - comms relay, push the limit

Omega Ace - comms relay, push the limit

Epsilon Leader - comms relay

One hundred on the dot. You've got three TIEs which can spam tokens like there's no tomorrow, and can deal with the stress of doing so easily. Zeta has the uprated engines as he is most likely to break ranks, but frankly even if Epsilon Leader goes down their dials are hopefully good enough to cope, and even with only 2 dice, the omega brothers are pretty **** lethal...

Comms Relay is unique, right???

Nope.

The FOs are at their best supporting other ships, with onot the four of them out there you'll find that you really lack the punching power to drop a lot of what you'll face.

I wouldn't bother going overboard with FOs i.t.o points. There's no reason to balloon their costs given their offensive punch, and the fact that they're hilariously awesome with just ptl.

In fact, their cheapness and the fact that they don't demand much from your points are big parts of why I love them so ^_^

all those points in comms relays and ion mk2 gets you a whole obsidian squadron!

Having played all A-wings, I know I personally wouldn't bother going less than 5. Would definitely cull someone to fit in two Zetas, instead

along the lines of this if you give Zeta's ace Adren rush allowing for one turn of HILARIOUS Sloop 2BR shenanigans you can squeeze a scrub 15 point Tie/Fo in there ending up with 5 ties.

I know I can - and it would probably be better to do so. Five TIE/fo Omega Squadrons with Push The Limit is a nice, elegant list and I can see it, or five lower-level generics led by their respective unique ace, working well.

I was just wondering if an all-stars list could work. Equally, I was hoping to avoid mixing fighter types.

This may have to happen for the sheer comedy value. Segnor's Loop right then (2) Barrel Roll left and you're practically left having moved sideways.
