GM kits

By Pumkinspyder, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Is there any real difference in the GM screens for the 3 book? I figured there would be obligation, duty, morality differences. But are the other charts the same? I ask because I hear the FaD kit has a booklet for lightsaber building and of course a campaign. Would love to get my hands on the booklets but don't feel the need to have another screen, especially if they are the same

From what I can recall, the weapon lists are different - and page references will be different...

Other than that, the artwork is different. That’s about it.

Everything else is pretty much identical.

Screens are effectively all the same.

The booklets that come with them are the real value. All have a solid adventure. EtoE has rules for "Enhanced Nemesis" (and I think something else too...) AoR has squad-rules, useful when a PC is placed in charge of NPC minions. And yes; F&D has rules for lightsaber construction.

Thanks. Would you say it's worth the money for the booklets?

I believe so, yes. That’s why I bought them all.

IMO, YMMV, etc….

Yes the booklets are worth it.

I have them all. I'll echo the idea that the booklets have the meat of the value. I'll say I didn't terribly enjoy running Debts to Pay, but the rule additions and advice are nice.

Yes, the booklets alone are worth the price, IMHO. The screen is useful, but I haven't used it yet because I like not walling off my players in this game. D&D and Pathfinder? All about the DM Screen... used it to block rolls and do chicanery behind the scenes. Oddly enough, I don't do that in Star Wars Roleplay. The charts are great though and I reference them when I'm building out encounters from time to time.

Personally, I would love a GM Mat that I could lay down that had charts on it where I could roll and still reference the information but not create a Wall.

The thing about many vertical surfaces is that you can turn them into horizontal surfaces, usually without too much loss of functionality.

;) ;) ;)

Thanks for the input. I already have the EotE kit and like it. The FaD kit I've seen under $20, not bad. Just one major hurdle.....the wife! :) and a backup screen would be nice when one gets lost or ripped....

I love my Wall. I love to roll some dice secretly, but loudly, behind my Wall then glance up at my players with a sinister grin. It also reminds me of the cereal box Wall I would put up at breakfast time to shut out my pestering older siblings. :)

Yes, I bought all three as well. I keep one near me (not in the vertical "wall" formation, but just as a reference), and I put the other two out on the table for the players to use as reference.

You have one ;) I usually lay my screen flat so I can see the charts and it doesn't block my view.

Why would he have to be named Mat? You have something against a GM Bill? And that sounds kinda creepy. :)

Bad jokes aside, there are lots of old reference sheets made by fans here. You might have to update them a bit, but you could adjust them to your liking, print them out, laminate, voila.

Here's a revolutionary idea... lay the screen flat on the table with the charts up?

Thanks for the creative input guys (and gals?)... my primary objection to Wall = Mat is Mr Crease and his Bendy Friends. They snare dice in an unfair manner.

Sturm... I laughed at yours though... GM Bill... I have nothing against GM Bill... in fact, I alternate games with him where we get to periodically call out "Oh noe! Mr. Bill...."

This is true, but then so does oh so many other things :)

Besides, I roll all my die rolls (and the players do as well) in an old shoebox lid... keeps the die from flying all over the place :D

The AOR GM Kit I worked on just went on sale on Amazon for under 7 dollars. If you've been on the fence, this is probably the time to ****** it up at a great price.

Also, I'll be paying full-price... Don't want to undercut you guys' work, now do I?

Somehow it's actually down to $3.99 right now.

Yeah shopping online is a good way to get the GM Kit. I payed less than retail by looking online. Overall though I do feel they are worth the buy, even at retail price. Though obiviously buy low if you can find it :) :)

FFG will have already gotten its share from whoever you buy it from, regardless of how much you pay.
