Ewok speculation

Every thread that pops up on races/creatures that will be in the future talks about Ewoks, and I've been trying to wrap my head around how they would fit in to the game. Here are my thoughts, let me know what you think.

To make them thematic, Ewoks need to be week units that can gang up on opponents. On that note, I thought there were a couple things that could feed into this...

1.) Unit cost about 6ish with a reinforcement cost of 2. Unit quantity of at least 4 -5 with low health, like maybe 2. They would be easy to kill, but would take up full attacks which would be better spent elsewhere. Blast 2 would be highly valuable, making the AT-ST thematically an Ewok hunter, as it should be. Speed 4 - not too fast, not too slow

2.) Low strength melee attacks with a single yellow dice, ineherent -1 surge.

3.) Two surge abilities - stun and +2 movement points. My reasoning here is that they employ guerrilla tactics, hit and run, and with blunt, stone based melee weapons stun makes sense.

4.) Single ability: Tribal Warfare - when this figure declares an attack, the target suffers one damage for each Ewok within 2 spaces up to 2. The whole point of the Ewoks was their overwhelming numbers. This ability would give a single attack with a good roll the ability to kill a standard stormtrooper, but would still require a pretty lucky dice roll to realize. This might also allow the stun surge ability to trigger even if the yellow dice turns up no damage result (Not sure if this would work with current rules, but that would be the intention, and if anyone can come up with different wording to make it work, feel free to suggest)

Ewoks were just.... different. I think this build would translate well and make them cheap, relatively ineffective, but with the unblockable damage from ganging up, they are not completely worthless. They could even take out a royal guard in one deployment activation, but it would be rare and unlikely. Not sure what I would do about elite units, maybe give them 'assault' as a secondary ability rather than increasing the automatic damage.

Great work here. I would consider also the guerilla warfare tactics utilzed. The numbers were a big part of their success, but they also utilzed traps, and the land they lived in to ambush and surprise their opponents. Also I'm hoping we get 2-3 sculpts on them please! Wicket too eh?

I like all of your ideas. I don't think they need a -1 surge penalty though. Just one yellow die is fine.

Maybe Bleed instead of stun since they're using sharp weapons and in lots of the lore it's mentioned they targeted the gaps in trooper's armor.

In the WOTC minis, ewoks got attack bonuses for each other ewok adjacent to the target, so I like the swarm idea, though I might change tribal warfare to say it adds +1 damage to your attack for each ewok within range 2 of the target. That way it could still be mitigated potentially.

I can't wait to see what the designers do with Ewoks. I hope they're really good since I want to run them all the time. I assume they'll be rebels, though presumably they could be mercenary or something.

When you get around to making an Ewok Ally Pack, please include a miniature of a dead Ewok sculpt so us Imperial players can paint them and glue them under the feet of our AT-STs.

Oh yeah. Forgot about the relationships between factions in skirmish.

Eat People When defeating a non-droid small figure, they may consume the hostile figure for +3 recovery. "Yun yum di goot"

maybe two sculpts on one base.

Tribal Warfare: While attacking add +1 damage to the attack results for each friendly ewok within 2 spaces up to a maximum of 2.

That's the wording you're looking for (assuming having block results cancel them is okay).

The concept is really good though, more guerrilla stuff could be added through command cards.

Elites could have a bola maybe (special action to make a ranged attack with +2 accuracy or something).

Not directly related: is there any way to get the homebrew character's thread stickied so people can consistently post stuff there rather than making more one unit threads?

I'd love to see each "squad" have 4-5 ewoks. Make them habitat forest. Low attack w a bonus for each one nearby.

Teebow could switch teams frequently and get huge bonuses for praying before an attack?
