Does the Imperial Assault Carrier have a turret like its model does?

By Stormtrooper721, in X-Wing

The Imperial Assault Carrier model has a turret on its aft section - two of them in fact as seen here:

Do the rules for it reflect this or is it going to get stiffed out of its turrets for "gaming reasons" like the Imperial Shuttle was with its obvious rear turret?

Hmm, I was kinda expecting it to be unarmed like the Rebel Transport.

None of the cards in the preview article's fan looked like any of the known weapon upgrade card to me but the ship card says it can be given a weapon. Wouldn't make sense not to include a weapon if the ship could be given one. Can't bank on people having the Raider and/or the CR-90 weapon cards. I'm guessing one card is likely a new weapon, maybe even some form of huge ship turret.

I'm hoping that they get this ship right because its one of my favourite ships and I don't want it butchered like the Imperial Shuttle was. I still can't bear to use the Imp Shuttle that I have because it just doesn't "feel" right.

What is wrong with the shuttle in your opinion?

That it doesn't have the rear-firing guns depicted on the model, I would guess.

But it has. It is just represented as an upgrade card.

The Assault Carrier also has no primary weapon, but første have a Hardpoint icon.

As mentioned before no primary weapon so there will be no PWT.

Now the production shot does show a hardpoint which is where the firing arc comes into play. You can't have a secondary weapon without a firing arc (which is why I modified the GR-75 base when I made my S&V GR-75 conversion kit.). SO for the firing arcs it would be for the hardpoint which for now can't shoot out of arc.

Now could there be a hardpoint upgrade that can make attacks out of arc? I don't know it is hard to tell right now.

That's a little weird that it doesn't have a turret, and can't take a turreted hardpoint. Even the firing arc on the base doesn't match up to the position of the gun on the model.

Maybe the firing arc is 210 degrees, as in it can't shoot forward. That would be interesting.

I think something like a missile battery could fire out of arc, as the firing arcs are really just parts of the ship obstructing the weapons.

Now that it got my attention: The turrets on the model point backwards ... but there is a front arc only?? Thats baffling!

Hopefully there is a card like a 'Combat Refit' that gives that thing a PWT.

Could be a Gozanti-only Modification.

Front arc, no primary, one hard point. I'm looking forward to seeing the next preview for the Gozanti, and it's upgrade cards.

Possibility of a "turret" hardpoint, or a missile/torpedo launcher cargo?

Maybe the docked TIE fighters can swivel around and shoot! ;)

I think it would be broken with a PWT! Even though it "should"

As mentioned before no primary weapon so there will be no PWT.

I really looks like it is a rear arc..

If it was a rear arc the green section would be facing aft.

Anyway, rear arcs are distinctly un-Imperial. Imperial ships don't get chased, they do the chasing.

Yes, even transports ... o0

But no, you are wrong: Hence the Tie Aggressor :P

It won't have a PWT because it's a single card huge: PWT stands for Primary Weapon Turret.

Could it have a turret upgrade that specifies out of arc fire from the aft section? Possibly: I don't see any of the existing hardpoint upgrades in the fan.

That obscenity against Imperial Navy doctrine is non-canon for a reason!

I would have thought the fact that it doesn't have a primary weapon would rule it out having a PWT, but hey, that works too.

Words to the same effect. :)

It really seems like it should haveva rear arc for its hardpoint weapon, not a front arc.

It does, but they may have found that just impractical when playtesting it. It'll likely have an upgrade card to represent that turret in some way though.
