One pit, too many people

What happens if a friendly figure is on a pit, and you try to walk over it? Do you suffer the damage and the end-of-movement penalty? In that case, where do you go? To the closest empty pit space, or just any closest space? What if there are no empty pit spaces around? Or do you just ignore the pit as you are crossing it walking over the head of your partner?

You cannot enter a pit space that someone is already in it. Because you must only interrupt or end your movement in empty spaces and a pit forces an interruption, you cannot force that illegal event to happen.

But you can enter spaces ocuppied by friendly figures during your movement. Nothing stops you from entering those spaces. The interruption comes after you have entered there, right?

You can enter spaces containing friendly figures, but you cannot stop there. If you're doing a regular move action, when you enter a pit space, you have to stop because you can't spend movement points while in a pit. Because you can't stop in an occupied space, you're therefore not able to enter that pit space in the first place if entering would cause you to stop in an occupied space (which is illegal)- does that make sense?

If you're moving in such a way that you don't have to stop (move X spaces, etc) then have fun. You'll suffer the 2 damage, but you just have to keep moving.

It's just like if you have 1 movement point left, you can't enter into a normal occupied space. Because you can't move out if you move in, you just can't move in. If you CAN move out if you move in (if you have 2 MP), you're free to move in.

Followup question...

So if an Ettin throws a Hero into a pit, can the Ettin throw or not throw a second Hero into the same pit as the first Hero?

As the pit space is already occupied by another figure, it is not a valid target space for the throw action of the Ettin.
