Last night, my friends and I decided that 100v100 was getting boring.
SO WE DID 800 VS. 800 AND IT WAS METAL

Special rules for our game:
-Only 2 unique cards per side. I took Soontir and Howlrunner, they took Jake Farrell and Dodonna's Pride
-Derelict ships: If both sections of a ship are crippled, it remains in play and can still move and shoot. At the beginning of each activation phase, it rolls an attack die, on a crit the ship explodes and is removed from the table.
-We used an "initiative coin" that determined which team had initiative to move and shoot on conflicting Pilot Skills. Worked out really well, I also think it would be cool to implement in standard games, but we'll need to test that out.
Stats:
-9x3 play area
-18 obstacle tokens
-22 Small ships and a pair of Raiders on the Imperial side
-20 Small ships and a pair of CR-90s on the Rebel side
-74 attack dice could potentially be rolled on the Imperial side
-89 attack dice could potentially be rolled on the Rebel side
-66 defense dice could potentially be rolled on the Imperial side
-35 defense dice could potentially be rolled on the Rebel side
-4 turns were completed in 4.5 hours before the game had to end
-Imperials destroyed 320 points worth of Rebels total
-Rebels destroyed 340 points worth of Imperials total
-No large-base turrets were present in the mayhem
This game was a lot of fun, even though we didn't get to finish it. We also enjoyed feeling like fleet commanders in the field commanding squadrons in close proximity, especially with so many generics. The game also felt very cinematic in the way that so much was going on and so many ships needed to be accounted for since the action was widespread throughout the entire table. We're going to shoot for another game, possibly 2,000 points, in the near-future so we could see how much more carnage we could fit in a single game of X-Wing!
