Experiences with the new damage deck

By Ayleron, in X-Wing

I have thoroughly enjoyed the new damage deck. For the first time since store championships I fielded a Hawk without it's turret being roved before it's death. I was also playing a Blue Ace and pulled the shaken pilot which denied me my straight maneuvers but didnt take away my ept, which I was getting from r2d6, my cool boost, or my pilot skill! It was awesome!

I love the new deck and it was the majority of the reason I bought the new box. The new rocks have been nice, and I am far more impressed with the T70 than I expected to be. What have your experiences been with the new deck?

I've gotten stunned pilot as my first crit in two consecutive games :P

damage deck is an objective improvement. the less random bull, the better

Range 1 Z on Fel: Major Explosion--->Red Turns.

Yikes.

Crits will still be detrimental, I got the shaken pilot because I spent my action boosting instead of flipping a major hull breach. And the newness will wear off but for now pulling a crit is kinda fun to see what it is.

There is no longer hoping for a good crit. There are now bad crits and worse crits.

Eh, a Z wouldn't mind a Major Hull Breach, or any ship with one health left, for that matter. Or a ship with shaken pilot that wanted to bank or turn next turn, anyway. But generally, yeah, crits are more effective.

Very happy about the change myself. Was already down for the new ships but the damage deck is much better from a design standpoint. And what's good from that standpoint tends to be good from a player standpoint. Never again shall the hated Injured Pilot somehow hit my aces and their Academy Pilots.

Crits really matter now.

Too bad the VT-49 doesn't come with a cost reduction to match.

Aye + that ship died in Wave 7. :s

crits are seemingly now designed to be paired together. for example, shaken pilot and loose stabilizer pretty much wreck whatever maneuver you were gonna do next turn.

And we're all better off for that :)

My experince is that the forums are a less happy place to visit since its release.

I would think you'd be all over a ship that doesn't bother with fickle green dice.

oh, it bothers

it bothers you with fickle green dice

all the time

at any angle

regardless of how well you maneuver <_<

oicuun was the only decent one (dat manly ability) but I've never seen the poor bugger around

in my last game I drew a total of 5 damage cards - 3 face up - all direct hits - after the game I checked the 2 face down cards - another direct hit and something else I've forgotten.

Note to self

Shuffle
