Opening - Now Hiring

By Errant Knight, in Rogue Trader

One of my players just opened his own business and probably won't be playing for months, maybe longer. The players feel they need someone to fill his place on the crew. If you're looking for a game and interested, just drop me a note and let me know. They are looking for an Explorator, so know that the position is career-specific.

The game runs every other Saturday night from 10:30 PM - 1:30 AM EST. Sometimes we run late. We figure on 20 sessions per year after losing time over the holidays and peoples' summer vacations. We play on roll20 and use that venue through Hangouts. If you're technologically challenged, that's no problem. I'll talk you through the setup.

Some info on group dynamics. 3 of the players are in their 50's. The other is 20. 2 are 40k minis player. 1 is a hardcore sci-fi fan. 1 knows little of the rules or genre. He's the RT (of course). In fact, they are all new to the rules, so if you're familiar with the rules, you'll be an asset to them right there. We've all known each around 35 years, except the 20-yr. old, and the rest of us remember when he was born, so it's a tight group.

I am interest in this. If you are still looking for a player i can easily do the explorator if you wish.

I doubt the opening is still available, but figured I'd post. Long time reader of the forums, first time poster here. Read a few of your posts in the past and your game sounds intriguing. My in person RT game of almost 3 years is coming to a close soon, due to life changes of the friends. The standard reasons kids, family, work, and we are a close knit group of friends as well which is what interests me about your group. Of course we are going to end this most epic game with a bang, most likely ending in the destruction of the dynasty as the brave souls forge a path through a narrow opening in the doomed Hecaton Rifts. Trying to open the doors for the Imperium into the newest frontier...the next Expanse, as the Imperium will always press the dominion of mankind over the terrors in the darkness of the void. Who knows what unknown horrors the GM will unleash.....either way it should be fun!!!

But anyways, if you need a player for a game and would like to add a new addition to your gaming group, I'd be happy to try out for that spot.

It's also been my experience that the best of games last 2-3 years before real life interferes in some way, people move away, get married, have kids, divorce, new job, what-have-you. Congratulations on your game. It obviously withstood that test of time. No doubt the players will still be talking about it years from now. In fact, it will become a standard that they will compare others to.

Yes, that position was filled, and we even brought 2 people in instead of the one i posted for. Another player has since gotten busy with life, however, and attendance will be spotty for the foreseeable future. I will ask the players if they want another person at the "table." It will be a couple weeks before our next session, so I won't know anything until then. They don't need a particular position filled right now, so you'd be free in your choices. Do you have any ideas I can pass along to them?

Has your campaign been tabletop or do you use an electronic venue? If you haven't used an electronic venue before how much support would you need to get set up? I use the excel character sheet that's floating around out there to keep track of characters. Some players mirror along with their versions while others I send a pdf to so they can print out a hard copy.

The majority of the players prefer quick resolutions, even with extended challenges like military campaigns. In our last session they pretty much fought an entire campaign, complete with a dramatic melee between RT and Warboss, and they tell me they prefer this style of play. They don't like the minutiae of game decisions and I'm fine with running that style of game. If that's something that appeals to you let me know. We've been running nearly a year and like your campaign I expect this one to go on another year or two before it's run its course.

My current campaign has been table top. Old school dice, pencil, paper and a group of friends. We're planning on ending the game by April, so no rush for me time wise. I've never actually played in an online game, which is why I figured I'd reach out to see if you'd need a fill in.

Help needed would be minimum. I'm technically sound, all I'd need is what sheet and what venue you'd want me to use. I've dabbled with google+ and roll20 with my group, but for us it was better for table top. It was more to experiment to see if we'd use a different venue if we ran into difficulties meeting. Or after our campaign concluded if we'd start a different one online.

I'd be pretty open to whatever the needs of the group would be as far as character wise including seneshal, arch-militant, explorator, void-master. All the support characters are all fun in their own way, however since you said they have no current needs, a shifty seneshal to outwit/assassinate the opposition would be fun. A blade in the back, and a smile on your face...the Rogue Trader way!! Only characters I tend to not favor playing are Psykers, Navigators and Xenos, however if needed I'd be willing to give it another go.

Really I'm good with any game type. I've played in all games types for the most part. Some that were entirely combat oriented, dungeon crawl/mission specific, as well as high politic role playing games.

Sounds like a fun group and game. Keep me posted!!

We play on roll20 and run a video call on Hangouts. I launch the game through Hangouts so you don't need a separate window for it, though you do need the app if you want to view that way. Everyone turns off their camera after the first couple minutes and we just go mic from there.
