Massing at Sullust final round

By Overdawg, in Star Wars: Armada

I was reading the Massing at Sullust tournament guidelines and I am unclear on one point. Can you mix and match factions at the final round? Below it states that you can complete the 400 point build from your own collection, Now I would assume that you draw from the appropriate faction but what if both players are Imperial players and either didnt bring their rebel collections or simply dont own them. I am assuming this will be up to the TO to decide but I was curious if anything official had been stated.

One player will construct an Imperial fleet that includes the Imperial-class Star Destroyer and Raider-class corvette, as well as at least one of the Imperial squadrons from the Rogues and Villains Squadron Pack. The other player will construct a Rebel fleet that includes the MC80 star cruiser and MC30c frigate, as well as one or more of the Rebel squadrons from the Rogues and Villains Squadron Pack. Both players will then be able to complete their 400-point fleets by adding starships, squadrons, upgrades, and objectives drawn from their existing collections, plus those from the Wave II expansions under their command.

No, you would have to borrow ships and squadrons.

That is why I am happy that I am a TO for two of these events. I have a good sized collection

That makes the most sense.

I'm apprehensive about the notion that I might be forced to ...*gag*... play Rebels.

Luckily, I'll be at most, if not all, of the same events as Lyraeus.

Should I bring rubber gloves, or will sanitary wipes suffice?

Will kill you. . .

When/where are the Sullust events in Portland, OR? I am a bit south and don't make it up that way often, but I am hoping to make the trip for one or two events if I can...

I posted the stores and what dates they will be hosting the event here.

Excellent, thanks!

Do I have to use anything from Wave 2?

I was thinking of 2/3 Guppies, then add a Guppy and put down Ackbar. Do I have to use the ships at all?

Not from how I read it. But I may have misread something. I believe it says you use ships and one of the fighters...

Both players will set aside the fleets that they played throughout the Swiss rounds and will build new, 400-point fleets that utilize the Wave II starships and squadrons. One player will construct an Imperial fleet that includes the Imperial-class Star Destroyer and Raider-class corvette, as well as at least one of the Imperial squadrons from the Rogues and Villains Squadron Pack. Hmm, looks like we have lots of big forum names going to the red castle and guardian games events. Looks like my odds of victory are going down, but I'm excited to play against some people who are really good.

This could be my one chance to comand a combined fleet.

Well you have to follow fleet building rules. One of those rules is no mixing factions

It can cause an issue. For example, 2 Imperial only players make the final 2, one of them is forced to play Rebels? What if they have no Rebel models? And if they've never even played a game with Rebels? This is a possible issue for a friend of mine, he sold off his core set Rebels the day he got the box. TO's need to be aware of this possibility, and TBH so do players - i'm having a couple of Rebel practice games first in case this crops up, despite being an Imperial player in the main. I do have 1 of each expansion fortunately so can practice and put something on the table.
