Wiring up the 'bots

By skotothalamos, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Thinking about a brobot list for a tournament on October 2nd:

IG-88A

+Wired

+Fire Control System

+Heavy Laser Cannon

+Autothrusters

+Inertial Dampeners

+IG-2000

IG-88B

-ibid

that makes 98

The theory, of course, is that -- with the two bots flipping a stress-loop of one kind or another just about every other turn -- they should benefit from Wired a lot. However, it doesn't really synergize with FCS; it covers for those times when you have to change targets, but when you're focusing something down, it's blank on attack. The defensive reroll is pretty good, though. It also doesn't synergize greatly with Advanced Sensors, if I were to do that, though I suppose I could just evade every turn. It's almost as though Wired expected you to get no action when you got stressed!

I could drop the Dampeners and just go full-on defensive mode with Sensor Jammers, which do make TLTs look dumb, but feel like a lot of wasted points vs anyone who has PTL.

thoughts?

I like gliterstim more than dampeners.

Agreed on Gliterstrim, it gives that extra punch when needed with HLC plus Glit and ID are both once off cards so Glit has more value as its active during both the attack and defence phase of that round.
I've flown a similar list but with IG88 B and C or B and D.
A I don't see the benefit too as much as C or D
Wired is really practicable when S-looping/K-turn as it gives the stress token that is then covered by Wired.
Auto thrusters is a absolute must have on the IG's.

IG-88B
+Wired
+Fire Control System
+Heavy Laser Cannon
+Autothrusters
+Gliterstim
+IG-2000

IG-88C
+Wired
+Fire Control System
+Heavy Laser Cannon
+Autothrusters
+Gliterstim
+IG-2000

If you're going to used Wired, I'd use Iggy D, since you'll be able to use his additional repositioning with lower consequences.
