Stunned....or not?

By AndyT, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

Hello folks,

whilst gaming last night we came across a situation which we could not find an answer to in the rules.

Gideon became stunned, the player chose not to expend an action to remove the effect, he then claimed that he was still able to use his 'Command' ability

as the Stunned card states 'you cannot voluntary attack or exit your space', this rather defeats the purpose of a 'stun' result.

The whole point to apply the stun was to stop him running amok ordering other hero's around.

Does a 'stun result' stop a hero doing anything, until they remove the effect?

Andy

'you cannot voluntary attack or exit your space' means 'you cannot voluntary attack or exit your space', not more not less.

Since "command" does not require Gideon to move or attack he can do it while stunned. Stunned heroes can still take certain actions: special abilities, interactions, rest, etc.

if you want to stop him I suggest using an enemy that would make Gideon bleed. Bleed says you must discard it, any other action causes fatigue.

I'm not saying, that this makes any sense. But this game is played the way the rules are written ...

I could see this thematically. ST fires stun at Gideon. Gideon grabs his temples in pain falling to the ground and mumbles: "Gharkan, get him."

Thanks for the replies folks,

May have to do some tweaking of rules me-thinks, stun should be just that 'Stunned' doing nothing!

Thematically, Leia, doesn't cry out, merely falls unconscious,

Cheers anyway

You're welcome to play the game the way you want, but stun is already a powerful condition to inflict.

Making it even more powerful isn't going to be fun for Rebels...

Consider that the rebels are almost always under time pressure and have limited number of actions. Stun is already powerful enough. Trust us.

Besides, "stun" doesn't precisely mean "do nothing", it means "Whoa, I need some time to shake that off!!!" -or- "Gah! my leg is stuck!".

Just because you're seeing stars doesn't mean you're knocked out.
