Can someone help with making an opening crawl?

By felismachina, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I found this link http://codepen.io/TimPietrusky/pen/eHGfj

I tried to change text in the crawl to my own so i could make introduction into every adventure. But iafter i change text and try to send this link it will always show default version. So anyone knows how can i change this code to show my own text in the crawl?

I feel it's a dumb question but html is not my thing.

Copy the text in the html box instead, and then paste when needed?

The link itself will always go to the default, its meant for programmers to see how stuff can be done.

However what you could do is download the whole thing (share -> export zip) then extract all of it (you need everything not just the html file) to a folder,

open the html file in a texteditor (sublime text works pretty well), edit and save it.

Now either send the whole things to your friends or get free webspace and add the files there yourself (granted this is quite a bit of work though a nice project to learn about setting up a website)

http://www.starwars.com/games-apps/star-wars-crawl-creatorI have used the official crawl creator in my games fairly well. I write it out in notepad, then just copy/paste when we I need to use it.

That would be perfect, except for the fact that the headline is limited in length... for example "Escape from Mos Shuuta" doesn't fit... it cuts off at "shuu"

Actually just saw that you can keep your changes by

doing them all

then click fork

The opening crawl is overated. Now before you get your Star Wars underoos in a knot, here me out.

The opening crawl is great for the movies as a visual media, to expand the story, and let the audience know the situation.

But, it is not necessary for Star Wars. Both Rebels and the Clone Wars did away with the opening crawl and it works fine.

When being told a story I am a fanof the opening crawl. But for an interactive cooperative role playing game, you might consider having the players set the back story for where the opening crawl would be. Think of it as an empowerment that they have "power" in helping shape the story as opposed to being nudged into doing what the GM wants. A subtle idea to help the players realise they can do more to affect the story, and to get them in the mindaet to think "outside the box" when it comes up to destiny and despair results.

I hope you get it working, just thought I'd offer a defferent point of view in regards to the reason to or not to have an opening crawl.
