With Wave 7/Core II out, what would be a choice/nice list against Palpatine Shuttle with Soontir and Vader?
May the Dice be with you.

Run and hide!
Rebel/Scum/Imperial?
Horton with tlt, ept droid and marksmanship will remove the soontir part, just bring a good group of friends with the remaining 65 points that help keep him alive.
Why Marksmanship?
TLT does 1 damage, it doesn't crit.

By rerolling blanks naturally, marksmanship lets Horton turn all his eyes to successful attack rolls for both attacks. This makes it so he practically always rolls 3 successful attack rolls for 2 damage a turn no matter the defense dice barring impressive greens.

Impressive greens are my specialty ![]()
I fly a shuttle with two TIE interceptors quite often. TLTs are mildly scary, but interceptors are fast and can zip in and take out Horton in a hurry. And Palpatine's role is to help them get there safely. Blockers for Horton would help defend him.
The two things I fear most when I run Soontir are always 1) Vader crew, and 2) stress. Because of #2, I almost always choose Captain Yorr as my shuttle pilot. Vader crew still gets me -- I think I've lost to that thing 5 times to my 1 victory. Oh, and #3 is Gunner/Luke crew. They really wear down ships that rely on focus/evade for defense.
Totally going off the wall here with something I've never flown before, but this would make me a little nervous:
Horton Salm (TLT, R2-D6, Marksmanship)
Gray Sq. Pilot (BTL-A4, Ion Cannon Turret, R3-A2)
Eaden Vrill (Gunner, Tactical Jammer)
Horton is there for consistent damage, but the Gray Sq. Pilot is there to potentially double-stress an ace. Eaden's role is two-fold: to provide cover for the Y-wings by using Tactical Jammer, and to block the aces so they are easier targets. He has the added benefit of being a pretty cheap 3-dice Primary Weapon Turret when shooting at stressed targets, like Soontir.
EDIT: I suppose Eaden could use Intelligence Agent instead of Gunner to be a better blocker, but it cuts down on firepower. Although you could use those 4 points to buy Flechette Torpedoes for your stress Y-wings, allowing you to double stress at range 3 where Soontir likes to hang out.
Edited by ParakitorI'm assuming we're talking rebels here.
I hate to say it, but Corran is probably the best way to specifically counter Soontir/Vader, especially with R2D2 and vet instincts and FCS.
I have to agree that TLT is not the best answer to Soontir w/ autothrusters, stealth and Palpatine for backup. Even if you get 3 near gauranteed hits per shot wit Horton, its actually not hard for Soontir to get 3+evade results because he's rolling 4 greens, has autothrusters, an evade token and a focus token every turn. Even one bad roll he's still okay because Palpatine fixes that...
Vader doesn't have autothrusters though, so you can possibly kill him, although ultimately it might be better to take out the shuttle first to remove the Emperor's shenanigans. Question is, can you kill it before taking significant losses? Dash and corran could definitely do it. Blockers, PS10 and stress-inducers are the best way to deal with Soontir...
