Cheapest 'From Scratch' Tourney List

By Skargoth, in X-Wing

So I'm currently across the country for ten days, but the local store here, which I've been to a few times, is running a tournament while I'm in town. I'm seriously musing over massing a quick list to play, but I have to ask what you guys think is the most bang I can get for my buck in developing a list?

Of course I need to grab a core, so maybe something that can be tacked onto Xs and TIEs?

PS: Currently the only things I want to add to my full collection are a second YV-666 and a fourth TIE Adv, otherwise I don't "need" any new ships in my collection. There are plenty of things I don't need anymore of, but I'm all ears.

What say you?

Are you able to borrow upgrade cards? Here's one that could be done with just the Core Set and Falcon, and with all the new players you could probably sell both sets afterwards: http://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Rebel%20Alliance&d=v3!s!5:27,-1,3:-1:3:;36:12,-1,33,25:2:3:

Two Aggressors?

I think I might be easier just to befriend someone with a large collection. Find out what faction they are not flying. It's not like you'd have to use it any where else but at the tourney

Which core set are you getting? Also, how competive are you looking to be?

If you want to 'complete' your collection then you could get Tie Advanced and Hound's Tooth. It'll allow you to kit:

Darth Vader with Lone Wolf and Engine Upgrade for 35PT. You can go from there.

Core + X-Wing + Falcon =

2x Rookie

Han + Luke + Chewie + MF title

Are we to assume you need a core for templates and dice?

If so I recommend a new core set and a decimator. They'll get you to a hundred points fast. Try to find a copy of push the limit though.

Core + 2 X-wings nets a 3X Ace list. Might also be possible with Core + E-wing + A-wing.

Core Set, Z-95 and Millenium Falcon gets you

Lando with VI, Nien Numb, Title (47)

Luke with Lone Wolf, R2-D2 (34)

Cracken (19)

VI can go on either Lando or Cracken or neither for init bid. Maybe not super competitive, but Lando and Cracken can give each other free actions stress free while lone wolf Luke is always a nice choice. And that Falcon only costs 47 points so not such a devastating loss if it dies. Plus the new MoV rules favor cheaper big ships.

Neither of which are in the Core, YT-1300, or Z-95 packs. :P

Yep. I totally mixed it up with Wing Man.

How about a Core and Imperial aces. No Fel, no Autothrusters, but still some decent options. Can put any 2 of hull, shield and targeting computer on Jax and a royal guard and go with 2 of Mithel, Beast or Curse.

Get a k wing and y wing? Then you can run something like this. Luke is a little meh though

Luke Skywalker — X-Wing 28

Determination 1

Proton Torpedoes 4

R2-D2 4

Ship Total: 37

Warden Squadron Pilot — K-Wing 23

Twin Laser Turret 6

Extra Munitions 2

Conner Net 4

Advanced SLAM 2

Ship Total: 37

Gold Squadron Pilot — Y-Wing 18

Twin Laser Turret 6

R2 Astromech 1

Ship Total: 25

If you go ahead and buy the Yv-666 expansion, I think a biggs, Corran + your choice of 3rd ace or 2 zs will work fine.

Purchases necesssary- Yv-666 expansion, Core set, E-wing, +additional ship(s) of your choice (2 Z-95s with my suggested list).

Biggs 25

Corran 49

Crack Shot

R2-D2

Adv Sensors

Engine Upgrade

Flechette Torpedoes

Tala squadron pilot (x2) 26

100 total points

Thanks for the replies guys, I think I'm going to resort to Pancake tactics, trying this:

Han Solo (46)

Luke Skywalker (7)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Miranda Doni (29)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

Chewbacca (4)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Total: 100

Seems strong, all I've heard is good things about EU on Miranda, but if I remove it I can free up points for fatter Han. Hell, I could remove Chewie too and run a bare Miranda. Still up in the air, thoughts?

All Miranda really wants is A-SLAM. Spend those saved points elsewhere.
