KBB List

By Ghostshark, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey guys and gals! Brand new to the forums, but have been into X-wing for a while now, just thought I'd post up my latest creation for critique, as I'm really wanting to fine tune this for tournaments.

I really wanted a 3 ship crew, all the same pilot skill to add flexibility on who moves first. My initial idea was to use the K-wing as a rabbit to lure ships to chase it right into the path of the B-wings. But after realizing that a smart opponent will steer clear of the backside of the K, I now use the B's as a fighter screen. Push past the enemy in a head to head, maybe drop a bomb or net if the distances are right, then turn around and try again. Tried against a Chirpy/Fel list last night, and it wrecked the VT quite handedly. The first volley hit Chirpy with 3 stress that he just couldn't shake, and Fel was unlucky enough to keep bouncing off of obstacles and ships.

I'm toying with the idea of swaping the Blue Squadron Pilots for Gold, and equipping them with the -A4 card and either Ion cannons or TLT. Doing that I'd have enough points to spare to use the 2 unique R5's for the possibility of keeping the Gold's somewhat healthy. Unless someone has a better idea on how to equip these guys. I'm open to suggestions or improvements, the only things that are out is that I want 3 ships, at least one K-wing, and all matching pilot skill.

Thanks for any input...

I see what you did there but i think i like THIS better.

Have to agree with the above. After some experience with them, I've decided that non-Miranda K-Wings are surprisingly easy to kill - OP lists has a lot of points sunk into ordnance that very easily will go down with the ship before you get to use it.

Miranda and 3PO on the other hand is about the tankiest small-based ship out there. Her TLTs plus the Accuracy Correctors on the Blues is virtually guaranteeing a minimum of 6 damage pushed through every turn. Plus you've got the Z to block and keep baddies out of Miranda's doughnut hole or set up range 1 shots for the Blues. I played a similar list with HLCs on the Blues instead of running the Z and did well enough but this list is probably just better.

I tried a variant of this today, replacing the second B-Wing with Biggs + Shield Upgrade & R2-D2. This was against Bossk & Kath Scarlett.

I lost Biggs on turn 1, B-Wing was crippled fairly fast and destroyed after dealing 4 damage & 4 stress to Bossk. The K-wing on the other hand was amazing! It hit a Firespray with Ion Pulse Missile and sent it off the board, then the YV-666 ran through a Connor Net and joined his friend.

K-Wing was the lone survivor with 1 hull. Very happy surprised at how good the K-Wing CAN be.

Has anyone tried Miranda + Lando?

Surely Miranda with two Bs rocking FCS and HLC would pack a punch?

Miranda Doni (29)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
C-3PO (3)
Blue Squadron Pilot (22)
Fire-Control System (2)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

Ok, so I flew this list last weekend, and my results were less than stellar. I ended up 1-3, with my win going to time with a slim MOV. On the plus side, it did exactly what I expected it to do going up against large base ships, and chew through shields and armor. The downside is that the list is horrible against TIE swarms.

Round 1: Kath & Guri

Wiped, but managed to take out Guri. Due to some horrible miscalculations of distance, I Ioned a B-wing twice in two turns. First was from putting down a Conner Net that immediately overlapped, then next round I put down an Ion bomb hoping to catch someone in the blast. The only one who couldn't get clear was my already ioned B-wing. At least my opponent had the decency to mercy kill him before he drifted off the board.

Round 2: Vader & 2 Firesprays

My only win, opponent kept bumping his ships together, and I never really felt the sting of the triple action Vader. Due to him hitting an asteroid, then my Conner Net, Vader was easy pickings. I lost a B-wing, but wiped out the first Firespray close to the end. The end of the game saw my K-wing rabbiting in front of the last Firespray, with a Net left to play with, and the B-wing giving chase. Another round or two and I would've been able to clean the board.

Round 3: TIE Swarm

This was just brutal. Howlrunner, Backstabber, and 3 Interceptors. The first round we traded shots saw one of my B-wings' shields vaporized. I was able to take out one Interceptor, but about the only other damage I managed was to Conner net another one, and by the time the damaged Interceptor managed to get turned around, he was able to put the killing blow on the K-wing, as the rest of the squadron annihilated mine.

Round 4: TIE Sluggers

Dark Curse, Vessery, and Redline. This match I tried someting completely different. My usual tactic had been to fly a tight formation at the enemy, keep the B-wings nearly base to base, and focus fire both at the same target/range/weapon. This round I tried formation flying close to my side of the map, waiting for him to get close. Big mistake. Redline had an Ion Torp with extra munitions, and nailed one of my B-wings as soon as they were in range. The whole formation was ioned, and it was downhill from there. Dark Curse seemed to be in my arcs more than the other two, so I shot at him more often, but he was rolling spectacular against my horrible dice. Not a pretty match.

All in all, it was a good learning experience, and not a horrible tournament experience for me. Can't wait for the next one, and while I will tweak this list a bit and try it in league, I have a slightly more agile build in mind for the next tournament.

Round 1: Kath & Guri

Out of curiosity, what was the Kath / Guri build?
