Deluxe Core Set talk.... again.

By dewbie420, in X-Wing

I think FFG should offer a deluxe box by next Christmas. Who else thinks this would be an awesome thing to get as a gift??

My idea:

Deluxe Core Set $99.95US

Rules update. Mission compendium with new missions.

Nice dice, 4 each.

All acrylic tokens, templates and ruler.

2 ships from each faction.

Box coverts into storage/tournament box for game pieces plus 12 small ships or 6 small/1 large ship.

Then sell seperately-

Accessory Packs: basic tokens, expanded tokens, templates & ruler, asteroids & debris, nice dice.

*I posted this in reply on a different thread and thought it needed a kickstart discussion so FFG can send it to the printer asap. ;)

Not interested. Would be pretty fancy to have, but I already have acrylic templates and have won an acrylic range ruler. Tokens I find kind of weird in acryl.

I don't believe there would be much of a market.

If there would be enough potential buyers then sure, why not? As long as there are no important upgrade cards in that pack I am absolutly fine with it existing. Maybe make it a combination of the old and new starter sets?

Hmmm, how can I put this...

Do not follow Games Workshop's "happy trail". It does not lead anywhere you want to go.

IMO, this doesn't fit FFG.

If they made it, I would totally buy it.

I am not sure that it fits FFGs style.

Add 1 CR-90 (with C-3PO) and 1 Imperial Raider (with all the TIE advanced fixes) then I might consider it.

I agree that it would be awesome, but I also have a scarred GW past that does not like the idea of super special deluxe limited time releases.

Whenever FFG releases an official version of something that has previously been produced by third parties - like playmats for example - the FFG version becomes the only one that is tournament legal.

Can you imagine the absolutely apocalyptic scale of the whinefest that will happen when all Acrylics with the exception of the Official FFG ones are made illegal?

It just doesn't bear thinking about.

That said, some kind of Deluxe set isn't a bad idea - just give it a slightly different approach - maybe a compendium style set for each wave that compiles all or most of the upgrades that go well with each of those ships but were released in later waves.

So for example Wave 1 Rebel compendium would contain an X-Wing and Y-Wing (possibly repaints) - BTL-A4, TLT, the pilots and astros from the Transport, some of the better EPTs that go well with Luke and Wedge etc (possibly alt-art cards) - but doesn't contain any of the named pilots from the core or wave 1 expansions.

Imperial Wave 1 compendium could contain the Advanced fix, the pilots from the Raider, Engine Upgrade, Predator, the TIE pilots from the Goz etc etc.

They'd be great for established players who just like to collect everything - but wouldn't contain anything that you HAD to buy - and a great way to help newer players get their collections of ships and cards up to speed quickly and easily without cutting into the sales of the standalone expansions.

I'd buy that for a dollar!

A bundle or a pre-order sounds like an interesting idea. Everyone will want a different one depending on their collection I guess ;)

How about a playmat, some plastic templates, custom dice, a ship a new damage deck.
